Well he’s properly stuffed if he looks on here now isn’t he?
In years to come when the grandchildren are excitedly demanding I tell them yet another anecdote about the Klopp era at Liverpool, Bobby will be the first player I think of. Hard working, casually brilliant with a real commitment to entertain. He epitomises everything you ever need to know about how JK wants to play football. But, fuck me, these last few months he’s been absolutely terrible. Like he’s forgotten how to play football.
Surely he will come back. Class is permanent, etc, but it needs to be soon because Jota is kicking down the door into that first eleven.
Bobby has clearly looked sharper when playing for Brazil compared to when playing for us this season. It’s maybe a motivation thing or does the fact that he misses alot of chances is starting to weigh on him at the moment? His overall play is the thing we need the most and its kind of worrying that his touch recently has been lacklustre. With our defence injury riddled like this down the middle, the onus has to be on keeping the ball and attacking teams with force. Jota is definitely making a case for himself in that department, bobby needs to get up to speed.
I think he will come alive again once Thiago starts to play regularly as they will be on the same wavelength and he will receive the ball in zones he can hurt the opposition
I would really hope we get him back to his original position higher upfront, where he’ll get more chances. He’s dropping just too deep and I still see he can get his form back playing in and around the box opening up defenses. He inherently takes risks and doing that while playing deep isn’t that helpful.
He’s just not good enough for us anymore. Jota, Salah and Mané are just soo much better.
Lest we forget…from the dark days of Rogers to the Golden Dawn of Jurgen…
This guy has been pushing the LFC train all the way… Patience a little longer people…

Oh dear is all I can say
Okay. I’ll try
Pearce on Bobby:
He’s played a ridiculous amount of game time over the past five years and has performed at a ridiculously high level for the most part. Over the course of 2020 his output has dipped. He’s never been the kind of striker to judge on goals alone because he offers so much more. But I do think that other areas of his game have suffered too.
Ordered and received my Bobby Nike Jersey, as a sign of confidence in my favourite player! With the Club World Cup badge on it, as a reminder of him running the show there (after all, we are still World Champions while wearing this kit, at least for a few more months).
Form is temporary, class is permanent.
Having Jota allows us to not rely on Bobby, in turn allowing him to regain strength and come back to form. I believe that when he comes back to form he will feature rotating with Jota up front, but also as a 2nd striker/#10 in a 4-2-3-1 formation. Thiago-Henderson being the double pivot, or Henderson-Wijnaldum/Thiago-Wijnaldum etc. when we need rotation there.
Also, Jota able to rotate with either Salah or Mane on the wing, to rest them, will allow Bobby time up front even when Jota starts.
It’s a blessing to have such options, and we never had something convincing these past couple of years, at least not convincing long term. With Jota able to play anywhere in attack, and providing goals, danger and energy, the options of front three mixes between 4 players are awesome to have.
But back to point, here’s to respecting Bobby Firmino and believing in him!
Klopp:
“For anyone who is with us, I don’t have to say one word about Bobby Firmino and how important he is to us. For those who are not with us, I don’t care. If these people don’t see [Firmino’s quality], I cannot help them. That is it.”
Didn’t Klopp say something very similar about Lovren?
Cue Bobby being sold off to some Eastern European team in January…
Not saying he had a good game but he was clearly better than Jota in this game and when he was taken off we halved our horse power.
Jota has played two games from the right, and he hasn’t been that effective in both as he has been from the middle. This formation isn’t for games like City, but against the teams that sit behind it might be really effective. With Thiago behind, and Bobby and Jota in middle and Salah right as usual.
No he wasn’t!
Yes he was!!!
I’m sorry but Firmino was our worst player last night. When he was in good positions he didn’t try to move the ball and get a shot away instead trying to force passes that weren’t there that lost us possession. Then inexplicably taking a pot shot that would have had to be a worldy to go in when there were passing lanes open to unmarked Liverpool players in their box. Everything that went through him fizzled out. And for once he didn’t seem to bring any harassing, pressing, energy either. Not saying Jota had a good game but Firmino may as well have not started.
Was he?
Jota won just one of his 7 duels in the first half.
Not much could be seen from Salah either.
I agree that not much worked out for Bobby yesterday but he was more involved than the both combined.
And where was our energy when Bobby left?
The whole side were visibly exhausted and running on fumes by then, before Firmino went off. That’s why Klopp tried to fix it. And in fairness to Klopp Shaqiri was busy and involved a lot more.
