the western version would carry more weightage were it not for the outright lies which have been spouted by them
As opposed the untainted honesty and integrity of Putin? I get the US has a credibility problem, but this is not an issue of the US vs some poor schmo.
Bangladesh fought a guerilla war until India entered the war on Dec 3, 1971. Over the course of nine months (Mar-Dec) three million killed, nine million made refugees, 250k raped. Not to mention the systematic murder of the intellectuals during the last (Dec 14-16) days of the war.
What did Kissinger say then ?
⌠maybe he means a war between Russia and Ukraine? (You know, all that stuff those lying NATO allies have been saying)
Yeah , so the millions that US has allowed to die donât have any lives to matter ?
I find it hilarious really. US and their allies invade countries on false pretences (which have been proven to be false) and still donât allow the same courtesy to others
With regard to war in Ukraine, is a Russian attack or invasion imminent?
And if so, what will America do?
Presumably America wonât want to put troops on the ground in direct conflict with Russian troops, as the escalation would be lose-lose.
But what will America do, realistically, to stop, or at least hurt Russia for this bad behavior?
Again and again Putin has shown his colours to the world. We all know he does not respect the norms of international laws. We have seen it a thousand times immediately after performing the bad action they deny, distract, and blame.
There is no context that justifies russia invading Ukraine. Itâs not like NATO membership is even likely for Ukraine.
They are overwhelmingly the aggressor in this instance, amassing troops, going to break an International treaty (Ukraine gave up Nuclear weapons, that ensures Russia must respect its boarders), supporting separatists. Thatâs before you consider the long history from annexing Crimea to poisoning a democratically elected leader.
The US/UK is not to blame for this. At itâs heart for good reason countries near Russia fear for their security.
Keep sanctions ? Yeah , like sanctions were kept for US to illegally invade Iraq
The whole UNSC is a sham
I know Russia annexed Crimea, and I know America hasnât been best behaved around the world and has committed plenty of wrongs, but my focus is on Ukraine and Russia, right now.
Does America care?
And if so, how much does it care?
What will it do to stop Russia? Or hurt it?
Is your position America will do nothing, because basically it doesnât care about Ukraine?
But it will do some hollow measures to appear to be doing something?
Is that what you are saying?
When has US even respected it ? I agree that Putin isnât correct but US doesnât come out of it smelling of roses either.
Yes.
Putin officialy recognizes the breakaway provinces as independent. Another step towards escalation.
and when does Nato get to judge what the norms of international laws are⌠i mean seriously
It needs to care.
In a world where we want nuclear disarmament the integrity of treaties need to matter.
How could we convince say North Korea to give up its arms, they would only need to point to the Ukraine.
Kissinger was busy with his Chinese (surprise, surprise) pals in supplying Pakistan with arms. He did try to send the Seventh Fleet to evacuate the foreign nationals when it became obvious that Pakistan is sinking like rock.
Fair enough, thanks for clarifying.
Iâm late to the conversation, but have been following this in the news.
Do we have any knowledgeable people who know what measures America might take, short of troops on the ground in direct conflict?
Sanctions? Like what, and will it matter?
Hacking? Like shut down Russiaâs power grid, or severely disrupt them and their way of life?
Or will America basically do nothing? Save give Ukraine some stinger missiles to put up a bit of a fight?
China will follow suit and recognise those areas too, the American empire is in its decline finally
the same world which allows US to still have nuclear weapons ?
