This “stopping the killing at absolutely any cost” line of thinking is obscene. Purely obscene. The greatest enemy Ukraine has apart from the Russians on the battlefield, is people spewing this absolute horrible garbage. The danger, and it is very real, is that some European states also think you do and will do whatever is in their power to pressure Ukraine to accept defeat long before they are militarily defeated, giving the Russians partial victory at minor cost.
Another matter entirely is that this is not Kreml’s war goal. It goes much further. It is possible that such a Finland solution will be the solution in the end, but only when Ukraine can fight no longer or Russian losses are high enough. And it can fight for several weeks more and it is imperative that it does so. A natural compromise will only be found when the Russian losses are high enough, and for that the war must continue for a good while longer. Skipping to the end is an absolutely awful solution that would render all Ukrainian deaths meaningless.
Another fact is that your solution would mean that Russia’s risk calculus in terms of attacking Moldova, Sweden or Finland, would be changed in a horrible direction. I hope you were not thinking straight.

maybe there is a bit of hope, or it´s just a diversionary maneuver.

Just want to share a cautionary tale. For years my daughter had a beautifully painted Matryoshka doll that she had sitting on a shelf. Then one day it got knocked off and 6 other dolls spilled out.

Sneaky bastards.

I think it’s a tad too early, but Russia losses are getting very high. The danger is however that the Cease Fire will just be used to regroup properly before launching a new offensive. Also, will Russia really withdraw already now. Seems a tad early. I would have expected at least another 14 days of fighting before they accept that the cost of reaching their military goals are too high. Still RU forces in transit after all.
