An old dude realising he hasn’t much time left, living largely isolated, hardly involved in the day-to day business anymore, spending endless hours thinkling about his legacy and Russia’s/Soviet history. Oh and he has nukes. What could possibly go wrong?

Gotta say, think this will prove a huge blunder by Putin. Odds must be pretty high on someone booting him out within the year, then trying to get a weakened Russia back within the international fold.

North Korea’s missiles would be taken out, before they got anywhere near the US. Not that their nukes could reach that far, they don’t have the capability. Anyway, I don’t want to talk about that odious, fat, little toad.

was thinking the same, that Putin wants to make his mark, and possibly rebuilt the USSR,
but the irony is (if thats the right word) is if he loses this war, and Russia come out of it badly
it could bring the end of him, his goverement, and the way Russia is run

Countries from the former sphere of the USSR joining NATO, and the prospect of Sweden and Finland joining, are two different things.
Sweden and Finland never were anything to do with USSR and were always liberal European democracies.
I don’t have a dog in the fight, and I would love to eat one of your curries! But you can’t lump the Fins and the Swedes in with others.
Food would be the real issue, though beer has calories…that and electricity. Solar panels don’t generate much right now, so if the grid goes out, barely enough to keep the pump running.
There are in fact a couple of cabins. I guess the next step is the perimeter wire for when the radioactive zombies come.
Sort of odd to think that I am thinking about concerns like this in a way I have not for about 30 years.
