my RV has a single panel on the roof that completely supplies it with enough 12V power to the battery bank to be self sufficient. have no TV or Microwave of course, but it will keep the batteries charged enough to run the furnace overnight.
from what my great aunt told me who had it put together, I’d run out of water before the fridge ran out of propane. 5-6 weeks I think she said it’d last. but if I’m lakeside with my boat and my fishing gear, I think I’d be able to self sustain for a few months as long as the fish keep biting.
it can be comforting that, even in the darkest times, we still uphold the benefits of living in a free society.
sillyness of the competition aside, the fact that not even a war can stop us kicking a ball, or singing a song, is actually a powerful positive…even though i fully understand the angle you are coming from…
I’ll be sure to mention it to any Ukrainians I bump into in the future - we sang and kicked a ball about while everything you had went to pieces… Tell me, who is this comforting exactly?
had a similar discussion with family the other day.
at 70 years old…even though he could live for quite a few more decades…hes getting to the age where a young bull might decide its worth challenging his leadership of the pack…maybe its time to act now based on a desire to leave a legacy AND answer some internal wranglings head on?
i get it, it doesnt directly assist the situation…but it doesnt harm any ukranians at all, infact id imagine the general population of Ukraine would prefer that freedoms for the rest of the world continue… Fuck Russia…type thing.
look i know its hardly big stuff, but what would you honestly react to if say…we cancelled football for the rest of the season…put aside the Liverpool fan perspective,…i mean, from a free western society perspective…hand on your heart, if we started cancelling events…no matter the personel importance to you, but events that are a result of living in a free world…what would your honest opinion be.
if the CL final was cancelled, becuase putin started a war…
Ukraine may be trying to surrender with some minor dignity, but I am fairly sure Putin will only accept maximalist demands, so probably nothing will come of it. I think the UKR government and Kiev will be decapitated soon.
The Director of the division I spend 50% of my time in is Russian. Very western, very anti-Putin, but you cannot take the bear out of the Russian. Yesterday the conversation inevitably came up and to everyone’s surprise she was talking like a textbook resident of Moscow…don’t believe everything you see…nothing is really happening in Kiev…fake information.
Only a matter of hours later she was in tears once it became undeniable what was happening. We’ve got a Ukranian lad on the team who has got pretty shirty about the conversation of the build up, not because he thought it was insensitive or he was anxious, but because he said it was nonsense western media trying to make their countries seem important all over a non-issue. For reasons I cannot fully understand, a good number of people seemed very invested in the idea that this couldn’t happen and now just cannot comprehend what is unfolding.
