Gotta love how everybody is referring to the conscripts as ‘the mobilized’ like zombie movies refer to ‘the infected’.
Never seen anything like it. It’s easy to say from here but it’s a remarkable lack of backbone when you consider anti draft protests in the past, women in Iran and their own women back home.
Hard not to feel sympathy for many of those being conscripted. Most of them are taken from dirt poor outlying districts, are probably unsupportive of the war (or unable to access information outside of state controlled propaganda) and are getting two weeks of training which doesn’t seem to involve much actual training before being sent straight on to the frontlines. Suicide would be quicker, same end result.
A fair few US citizens spent the Vietnam War in Canada or Europe. Not everyone takes to the streets.
