It’s a seal with legs!
Freed link: archive.ph
How are you able to ‘free’ articles ?
He looks even puffier meanwhile imo
I actually use links from free archiving services, providing snapshots of any website at a certain point in time. (very useful, as the internet is an ever moving thing)
Both sites allow to archive a non archived URL, it then usually takes a few minutes for them to make it available.
They bypass paywalls who are limiting the number of article you can read per day, due to the way they scrap the pages (technically, because they don’t fully support javascript and cookie site isolation, which is used to setup those “dynamic” paywalls)
I think most newspapers are aware of this bypass, and they somehow allow it, because it’s not a well known technique and because it’s also free publicity while keeping their paying models intact.
I personally use an extension Web Archives, available for most browser, which makes it easy to access a website archive through multiple services.
Services I use mainly:
- https://archive.is (run by a private person)
- https://web.archive.org/ (non profit which mission is to archive the internet)
The Wayback Machine is actually more powerful, as you can access snapshots of websites through time, but Archive loads faster.
EDIT And I like to call them “freed” links, as I view bypassing paywalls as freeing the information.
Thanks for the info. Much appreciated !
