No, it appears to be an acceptable use of a slang term, although I’m unfamiliar with it myself.

Brilliant that he’s been, Everton really nullified his strengths on the ball and we suffered. Let’s hope other teams aren’t able to do similar.

Moyes did it by placing Beto and Doucoure around him at all times, so he couldn’t receive the ball as often as possible. I’m sure Slot will be looking into that. We could also do with not conceding stupid goals for starters, even if they come from wrongly awarded free kicks.

I think being able to foul with impunity didn’t help. Maca was probably our best player and if we hadn’t had the constant stoppages we would have won. But there was literally no flow. It went off just before Salah’s goal because I’d just got tired of it.

I didn’t like our build up. We flipped to more of a 4-3-3, Gravenberch (nothing special against him, he needed more help) was often the single pivot in that phase. Especially being without Trent, I wanted Mac to drop a little more alongside Gravenberch and help us progress through the lines better. Although a few times when we went more direct, it looked good. Whenever we got forward we looked dangerous enough, but we didn’t arrive often enough.

Think a lot of us dominating games in earlier part of the season came with Grav having MotM performances. Just wondering if him tiring out is where we have seen us not that dominant in midfield and thus the overall game. There were couple of games early Jan I think where teams targeted him and we struggled to find an outlet to move forward. Just thinking if he’s probably one of our most important players whose form determines how our team performs in general?

I agree, and you can add MacAllister to that.

If you look at the ground he covered yesterday it didn’t look the performance of a tired or leggy player.

I think the reality is that his perceived impact was such primarily because the things PSG are particularly good at focus on his area of the pitch. It was harder for him to get in the ball, but even when he could and wriggle away from pressure there weren’t the easy passes he is used to having available to him. That’s just how it is sometimes against good teams/players. Kind of like Bobby Charlton having a “quiet game” in the 66 world cup final because he and Beckenbauer were largely cancelling each other out.

I think the thing we need to remember is that PSG are not just a really good side who will now be among the favourites to win it. They are a side who play in a way that we very rarely face. Yes teams in the prem press more than they used, but not like that, and not with that much quality on the ball to hurt you when they win it back. It is the type and level of challenge we probably havent seen for a year, not since the 3-1 loss to Arsenal away last spring. Because even they dont play like this anymore. Given those circumstances, you cannot judge the effectiveness of anyone’s performance by the same standards as any other game. I think then rather than being disappointed in how he played, the persistence he showed will probably be seen as an important step forward for a player criticized in the past for letting games pass him by

End of the day there is too much analysis.

We didn’t put our chances away they did.

Simply as that, we tired into extra time because we lost players to injury and had put a lot of effort in considering we were down on possession

So…
No point in talking pre or post match…

Pre match theres nothing to discuss…
Post match theres too much analysis.

You must be fun on date night.

There is literally nothing wrong with Grav yesterday. The reason we didn’t win is quite simple. We didn’t put our chances away, we drained ourselves with a possession game.

Also what did any pre match analysis of the game tell us yesterday? Most of it was how PSG had dominated us and they didn’t last night.

I think on date nights I’d talk about more interesting stuff than Grav or pre match PSG formations.

You asked why there was so many posts taking the piss about a Man Utd white elephant. I suggested there wasn’t much more that could be said. Your the one moaning. How about you set up a final post as there is a lack of one, knock yourself out discussing it. There is also a post match thread with tonnes of replies.

The trick is to find an American who tunes out what you’re actually saying and just listens to your accent. That way I can bang on about Liverpool all I want. Worked for me, married 8 years now :joy:

I missed a couple of semi finals for time with one of my ex.

I thought he was the one… evidently wasn’t.

Football is a non topic when I’m with someone. Football becomes like a rest from that relation and vice versa. Best to keep it separated and everyone’s at peace.
