Truly awful in possession last night, that’s why you don’t bother pressing him.
Needs to improve massively.

He’s quite useless in our current system. His forté at the beginning of last season was nipping in to make an opportune interception then simply laying it off to someone else.
All that is gone now our press is no longer designed to put the type of pressure on that created those opportunities in the first place.
Ok he has that little party trick where he turns and beats 2-3 opponents however he can’t find anything after even if it’s stareing him in the face.
He hasn’t the creativity nor the passing range to get forward like he and Slot have decided. Not enough vision. Too limited.
To be fair, the conditions are probably going to impact Gravenberch’s game more than anyone else. I don’t think he was that bad, just a bit quiet and ineffective.
Nah, he just failed to spot easy passes and took far too long on the ball.
To be fair to Gravenberch, it doesn’t help that he’s being overplayed. Mac Allister and Jones have sort of provided relief for one another and Szoboszlai is a machine, but Gravenberch doesn’t have the stamina to be used as intensely as Slot does.
The same thing happened last year too, after a very strong first half, his performances noticeably declined after a point. It also doesn’t help that he is now also supposed to contribute more when we’re attacking.
That’s not to excuse some glaring deficiencies of his, but it’d help if he could catch a breather once in a while.
I think this is the most damning feature about Slot. Over using such a limited player is criminal. Same goes for Gakpo. I just cannot get my head around it particularly as so often Gravenberch looks completely knackered after 60-70 mins and incapable of passing more than 1 metre Infront of himself.
Liked him around the opponent’s area yesterday, looked sharp. Although a few poor passes from deep that got us into trouble. Something he needs to improve.
Definitely do allow him to have that freedom to go forward, he doesn’t need to be stuck in deep midfield and that’s it. It’s questionable whether that would be good for him and for us.
Question also remains whether he’d be a good single pivot fit, if we change the midfield structure in the near future. For Szobo a 4-3-3 shape midfield would be good, for Gravenberch it possibly wouldn’t (if he would be the deepest one).

Ryan Gravenberch has today signed a new long-term contract with Liverpool FC.
Nice. Good to start securing key players on to longer term contracts.
Hes only 23 still.
Apparantly a 6 year deal/summer 2032
Is this an attempt at sarcasm?

Apparently he is on 280k per week now
Likely will make the Szobo contract tough to agree on if this is the case.
Apparently he is on 280k per week now
I wonder if that is now the going rate? It could actually be cheap in 6 years time, in which case he could be pleading poverty and pushing for a move.
If we offer the same why not?
He’s been absolute shite this year. Another fucking waste of money à là Gakpo.
Exactly
- the priority has to be signing up Szoboszlai and McAllister next to ensure Madrid doesn’t upset the team bond. I do believe the current players want to continue working with each other.
The sacrifice is that probably means no big summer transfer signings … but hang on a minute, we actually signed Wirtz and Isak. They haven’t blossomed yet. Still time for them to progress further.
and McAllister next
Nah. I think he might be cooked. And he’s under contract until he’s 29. I doubt he’s getting extended. I hope Real takes him and we can invest those funds in a Wharton or Anderson.
