No doubt Ifti’s head is rapidly growing and approaching the enormous size of Kopstar’s.
He’s going to be expecting a crack at the PL after his stellar performance in the Kanga cup.
Hard not to sympathise with KS though, who’s put in a run of top notch performances until being undone by a combination of inept refereeing and covid.
Think @Bekloppt was talking about our players, not Tottenham’s. But yeah, I think all of those circumstances come within the purview of the thread starter. The only view that’s relevant is whether, in the circumstances, the result was a good one or not?
Sure…but I think we’re talking about the Spurs game when we were missing VvD, Fabinho, Thiago (through covid) and Henderson (through sickness/cold).
I do find it interesting how certain clubs only need to miss a few players for matches to be postponed at their convenience - and I’m not sure how/why injured players are factored into that number, particularly given we were missing an entire squadron of senior CBs for most of last season.
So KS, in all honesty, do you think there’s anything that you could have done in your thread starting that might have led to a better result against Spurs?
There has been some comment on the delay in posting the thread, do you think that might have somehow affected the ref’s performance?
Are you feeling pressure after Ifti’s dramatic showing last night? Do you consider him a serious rival? Are you considering any change in your thread opening style to cope with the threat from this flamboyant upstart?
I’ve been worried that this result was coming for some time tbf. Although we’d won every game for which I’d started a thread this season, the performances were getting poorer and poorer. From record-breaking wins against United at Old Trafford, Everton at Goodison, Arsenal at home, and the thrashing of Southampton, we started to lose our fluency against Wolves away, followed by more wins against Villa and Newcastle at home. We were winning, but our performances were gradually becoming less dominant.
Sure, it still needed the most appallingly corrupt/inept (delete as applicable) refereeing to bring that momentous run to an end…but I can’t pretend that we hadn’t begun to stutter. In normal circumstances, should we have won that game against Spurs? Of course. Even with a makeshift midfield. But it seems that my midas touch was not enough to overcome being stiffed on a red card and a stonewall penalty.
I’ve had a good run. P 8. W 7. D1. GF 24. GA 4. GD +20. Pts 22. I’m happy to bow out unbeaten and let someone else take the reins. Maybe a poll?
Should I be the one to start the next PL match thread?
