Iâve just discovered a problem with posting directly from Bluesky. If the user who made the post has set their privacy settings to make them only visible to logged in users, then the preview will not work here.

The US Election thread is the perfect example of why tweets should be banned from this site. It has become unreadable due to the amount of time you have to spend waiting for tweets to load and then being taken backwards from the last post you read.

I think there is an onus on all of us to be more discerning about what we share from Twitter.
A few weeks ago a poster shared a gleeful tweet of a dingy being punctured by French authorities. Iâm not a fan of that kind of performative cruelty, but the bigger problem was that the account was an absolute shitshow of racism, antisemitic myths and conspiracy theories. We canât allow our forum to be used to promote accounts that incite hatred and myth peddling.
When this was pointed out and removed, the poster didnât offer any apology, no mea culpa, no whoops wonât do it again. They doubled down and went off on some ridiculous twaddle tangent about Hitler inventing X-rays or something.
Elon Musk might be trying to reframe Twitter as an anything goes Wild West of lies and misinformation, but we are right to expect better standards here. While there is no plan to ban Twitter as a source, we will have to take action if people donât show good judgement in what they share. Nobody is perfect, and mistakes happen, but we expect people to be reasonable and open to working with us to ensure what we share here is decent.
As for the loading times, yes itâs really annoying but I donât know what the answer is to this. I do think that we could remember that not everything we find on Twitter needs to be shared.

The answer, not just to crap loading times,but to all of that cess pit is to ban it.

If members of the forum are on X, then they can read whatever they want without putting it on here?
There are plenty of more reputable news sources to quote, if required.

It will eventually happen, but when that is depends on the Mods/Admin.

I never have issues with tweets loading, whether using my work laptop, personal laptop, or my phone.
Do we know what causes this issue? Browser choice? people with slow internet?

The thread has become unusable on my iPad in recent days but unremarkable when using my computer. Which kind of makes sense when you compare RAM (3GB vs 32GB)
