The very same. :+1:

Saw them supporting Rush in the 90s, absolutely epic group. Their mics were fish

Interestingly, their share options are simply a link to their webpage. They no longer have options to share to Facebook etc (although they still have a Facebook presence).

Incidentally, I’ve been on Bluesky for around a year. I’m not sure what has happened in the last day or so, but I have been inundated with followers, mainly Liverpool fans. I’m wondering if the sports fan element of Twitter is giving up on it?

In response to subscriber demand, a couple of days ago The Anfield Wrap opened a Bluesky account

Makes sense. Thanks for the heads up:

Hopefully it is more effective than mastodon.

TAW leaving X, entirely in keeping with their political views. I know a few of them, lovely guys but we don’t quite see eye to eye when it comes to Westminster. Or Washington DC come to think of it.

I’m sure they’re devastated about that.

I just made the move to Bluesky. I guess the success of this platform will be if they can convince mass movement of people over.

Twitter was really useful for sport, academic literature, news etc back in the day. But just a cesspit since Musk took over

It appears that you’re not alone:

Yes. I loved the access it provided to academic literature and academics themselves. I really hope these alternatives can mirror that, as I do miss it.

The academics migration is occuring as we speak

You lot are making me want to go back on Twitter one last time, just to collect the list of people I used to follow, and see if they’re now on Bluesky.

I used to have a fairly sizeable twitter following - nothing incredible but a good little community of youth football fans. I left Twitter way back in 2015 just because I felt like it was taking up too much of my time.

The remarkable thing for me whenever I go back on there, usually following a link, is the amount of hatred and bile that is being spewed. It doesn’t seem to matter what the topic is, the first few comments twitter shows me are outright disgusting. I don’t think it used to be that way.

So
To return to the OP…
Is it time yet?
Or are we holding out for another while?

I think @Magnus’ sources haven’t moved yet in all probability. It will take quite a while more I reckon for critical mass to be achieved.
