Having only used the web interface for both lately, I’m finding the interface for Bluesky so much smoother and nicer than that shithole that shall not be named…
I also signed up to Bluesky it is ok, a few people/things I follow on X is not on there yet.
Someone has created a news feed for LFC related journalists on Bluesky. There only appear to be a couple of names at the moment, but it could be a useful feature if it develops.

Bluesky apparently gaining 1 million user per day.
It’ll soon be the real litmus test, whether it ends up developing into that same toxicity that Twitter did. I’ve seen comments that the blocking function is a lot better in that regard, which may mitigate that toxicity. I think one new function is that you can subscribe to a block list, so if there are trolls which are rather well-known for example, someone could compile a list for many people to subscribe to.
I signed up to Bluesky. Let’s see if it becomes a cesspit or not. One of the first things I saw was the following sentence:
“We can disagree and still love each other unless your disagreement is rooted in my oppression and denial of my humanity and right to exist.”
James Baldwin
That’s not bad for a start. ![]()
Am I allowed to be opposed to BlueSky because of the name?
One of my favorite authors.
Twitter went rancid with Musk and it’s clear that, as well as removing moderators, he privileged right wing bile and put up roadblocks for accounts countering this. Blue sky isn’t owned by Musk.
I think things definitely escalated under that man-baby, but Twitter was already getting quite toxic prior to then, and already had content moderation/algorithmic issues.
James Pearce is on bluesky too.
Or a person pretending to be James Pearce. As long as the account is not verified, you should be careful. X has several James Pearce tbf
Well thats a good enough reason to avoid it.
My BS handle is Pames Jearce.
There were major issues with twitter prior to Musk buying it. Massive trolling and online bullying led to a huge rise in teen/youth suicide numbers for (I think) maybe up to 10 years before Musk.
But it has definitely felt more toxic since, but lets not forget that twitter had major problems before hand
Bluesky has a fascinating function called blocklists, where people can subscribe to a list to block, which should help with filtering out trolls, although I suppose it can also end up being used for cyberbullying.
