Should TAN ban X?

So if I want up to datenews you are the man.

Lol, no. You’ll have to go to @Magnus and @Livvy for that.

Problem with X and what Liew touches on it focuses on a story and it will nail nail and nail on top of that but it’s actually fuck all interest really.

Problem is our politicians jump in on anything that they feel is an advantage over their opponents.

I do miss a fair bit of what you call “news” but do I miss anything important by scanning a couple of news sites a day? Not really because the issue is news media has felt the need to copy it.

Badenoch thinking people who have sandwiches for lunch are weak and she eats steak is frankly just silly but here we are… everyone needs a side to pick.

Makes me laugh that to know what is going on in Iran and the USA, I go to the relative TAN topics

Is there a way to limit the number of twitter links posted each day. We seem to be getting bombarded with them in most threads now.

You have to wait for stacks of them to download which is really frustrating. Or maybe is there a way for just the link to be posted with the option then for anyone interested enough to click it to go to X to view it?

There is a very simple way to stop it from being displayed to you: please use the ignore function. That should solve your problem. :slightly_smiling_face:

No idea how I ignore people and anyway I was told by my mother it was very rude to do so…

But it would be a quick, inexpensive solution that you can use flexibly and change at any time; otherwise, a better internet connection or a new phone would also help improve load times. We have a thread somewhere around here explaining how to use the ignore function.

I don’t think the X links work like that. It was explained previously, but there is something behind the forums servers that loads the content before displaying it, but it isn’t instantaneous.

Oh, for me, it definitely makes a difference whether I’m on my home Wi-Fi or out and about. But that’s just my personal impression; naturally, it might be different for others. Regardless, if something annoys me, I turn it off—after all, that’s exactly what the feature is there for.

The Musk reason is bonkers but it is a bit annoying having to scroll X spam when you want to read discussions.

But then, we all go off topic anyway so…

Why is the Musk reason bonkers?

Better yet, what is the Musk reason?

Most likely the fact that he’s a more than a bit of a cunt, has an opsession with interferring with other countries politics, seems to have a massive hard on for Stephen Christopher Yaxley-Lennon and Trump and other pedo supporters like Epstein and is a massive fraud.

It´s arbitrary and are we going to scrutinise every owner of every media site we post on here?

No mentioning Newcastle because of their owners?

That’s not a great analogy tbh, it’s not about mentioning people it’s about not using their goods and/or services.

Would be promoting Newcaslte though?

I appreciate it´s maybe not a great analogy, but you do get the point im sure.

Calling out their owners for human rights abuses is hardly promoting them, though, is it?

I don’t see anyone being positive about them.

If you happen to use Firefox, through the Setting menu, select Privacy and Security, locate Enhanced Tracking Protection, select the Advanced settings. I think that if you select Strict or Custom (you can further expand this setting) tracking protection, the twitter content will not be loaded but only show you the link. However this will also impact other offsite content.

I just tried that, and it worked. So the site doesn’t work quite as I thought (this goes back to X being blocked because of child pornography concerns).
