how the fuck did we not jump on this, if Sevilla can afford him…he’s the piece we could have been looking for…
I think its likely because he’s fat and lazy.
maybe he spent too much time at Real, because I remember him being a little tasmanian devil for Los Blancos a few years back. He went stagnant there for sure, he was a hell of a good player linking up with di Maria if I remember correctly
Have you listened to Klopp, he says the right player not any player. I’d have taken a punt on a loan but you don’t want to be stuck.
he’s only signed a 2y contract at Sevilla, that’s not a massive commitment especially at the wage bill that Sevilla runs…I’m sure we could have met that. but I guess he and Thiago would have been too much duplicity?
If I’m honest if he isn’t great it just clogged up even more a CM which we need to refresh. I’ve not followed him for at least 2 years but the fact he is going to Sevilla on a free sort of suggests his current trajectory.
Because he’s the spanish Dele Alli…and 5 years older.
At one time Dele Alli was among the best players in the Prem. He’s now, at only 26, looking for a loan to Turkey.
Isco at one point was one of the hottest talents in Europe, and did well at Real for the first couple of season. But it’s been a long time since was performing at anything like the level of a player we’d be interested in. The real question for me is how he lasted this long at Real, seeing as you can go back as far as 2016 or so and see articles of how his career had been derailed. We’re simply not interested in those sorts of reclamation projects and nor should we be.
I had no idea he had such a fall from grace as I don’t follow Real too much. Guess I was judging off past memories as I just saw he had only 14 appearances and more matches injured than played last season. Wow.
It’s really remarkable how long he’s been there and how long they’ve been willing to believe in his capacity to perform. He’d started to fall out favour by the end of Carlo’s last season there last time around. They switched shape when they dropped Di Maria back into midfield and Isco got squeezed out…not really a midfielder in that system not a forward. Rafa gave him little time and then Zizzou was brought in with a specific brief to get the best of out him. He did for a period, but it went up and down. When he eventually came back he was given exactly the same brief, as was Carlo upon his return. In some ways he’s probably been protected there by the churn of managers.
may be a similar situation to Keita/Thiago, all the talent in the world but made of glass. his injury list is quite spectacular, a bunch of little niggles but never the same. hip, leg, arm, back…etc.
This one is interesting to me. I thought he looked really exciting the season we played Ajax in the CL, seemed like he could be destined for an early move to an even bigger club.
He seems to have a good foundation, some interesting qualities. A few years in Serie A could be a good move.
