Well yeah, he’s not a sympathetic character in this, and I’m sure he could have landed in a lot of places that were worthwhile if he was willing to take his wage demands down to as low as even 150k a week, but I hate that as a solution as it allows Barca to skate away from the problems they created.

Galatasary been pretty busy then…
In 2019 Liverpool Under 18s won the Mercedes Benz Junior Cup in Stuttgart. That’s an prestigious Under 19s indoor tournament where many later world class players featured in over the years.
Yusuf Demir won the award for the best player in the tournament - he was also one of the youngest in that year.
Traditionally we have a lot indoor football in Germany during the winter months and interestingly I’ve recently found out that Harvey Elliott and Fabio Carvalho played in a youth tournament in Göttingen, Germany where big parts of my family live.

Cedric Bakambu from Marseille to Olympiacos on a free.
Dan-Axel Zagadou from Dortmund to Stuttgart on a free.
This transfer makes no sense. He was top Spanish goal scorer in the league last year, has recently been caped by Spain and was an outside shot at going to the world cup. He’s now had his contract cancelled, signed for a worse side, and done so outside of the registration window meaning he cannot play for them until the world cup.
And his agent is currently being sued for assaulting one of Rayo’s backroom staff.
Adel Taarabt from Benfica to Al-Nasr on a free.
Allan from Everton to Al-Wahda on a free.
Wow, so that title winning midfield they put together a few years ago now includes Doucoure (as a sub)
Were he and Rodriguez just not that good? I swear they used to be some of the most highly sought-after players in Europe, and yet they’re not even 32 and effectively just collecting a cheque.
James Rodriguez had dropped off a Cliff way before he set foot at Everton. Several nice passes might have fooled a few but he has been poor for several seasons.
Pretty good player in his day, but he was the classic Real Madrid posterboy purchase after WC14. Back then they still thought they could play a double pivot of Kroos and Modric with James in front of them. Stylistically, possibly an Ozil replacement. Bale, Ronaldo, Benzema, the lot. Wasn’t balanced enough.
Allan was a solid role player for Sarri’s Napoli, doing the balancing role, pretty much like Wijnaldum did for us. Very nice player in that setup, the role he had in Sarri’s system was obviously great for him.
But in that Everton shitshow… very few have managed to look good there for long periods over the last years. Hard to judge a player in that context.
Jason Denayer from Lyon to Shabab Dubai on a free.
Iago Herrerin has signed for Valencia as a free agent.
