Its all wrong…

Bellingham - Sunderland £1.5m

Jobe that is.

I think it’s an issue worth raising. I have all the confidence in Jude being good enough and professional enough, but at Real sometimes there are issues outside of your control. And one thing they dont care about is spending big money on a player and not playing him.

That is maybe relevant to Jude to because as highly touted as their 3 midfield signings over the past 3 years individually are, I’m not sure then when put together it’s a coherent midfield with the guile that a club like Real expects. Presumably they try to squeeze everything they can out of the 33 year old Kroos to supplement 2 of these 3 guys (plus Valverde has to fit in somewhere, a decision that might be impacted with how they decide to respond to the loss of Benzema). Maybe Ceballos comes in, a player who had a downlow good second half to the season for them and seemed to perform when lots of the more highly touted players were not on form. You’d think Jude has the talent to be in whatever combination they decide to make work, but it’s not out of character for Real to splash money on a player without a coherent plan for how to use him only to then find them without a way to get him in a properly functioning side.

As of this year clubs can only amortize the cost of a player for FFP purposes for a max of 5 years, but that does not impact the max length of the contract that can be offered. It just means longer ones dont help with accounting fuckery

FA announces new transfer visa rules
Premier League clubs can sign up to four players who fail to meet the Home Office’s requirements for visas, in new rules announced by the FA.

The old rules saw Premier League teams unable to sign any players who failed to meet the Governing Body Endorsement (GBE) points threshold.

That points total was based on the senior and youth international appearances for the incoming player, the quality of the selling club and the standard of league they come from, as well as the number of career minutes.

Failure to meet that threshold meant the UK Government would block the transfer.

However, new rules have said that Premier League clubs can sign up to four players who fail to meet the standard. Championship clubs will also be allowed four players, while League One and League Two clubs get two of these signings.

Suddenly opens up things in terms of young prospects that don’t have enough points. No more annoying signings that have to be loaned and we hope they eventually meet requirements.

Valverde seems like a bit of a knob though. Not a Klopp player. Would take Tchouameni though.

Mbappe is guaranteed to go to Real. I would say for around €120m after add-ons.

Mbappe has remained at PSG longer than he wanted to so I don’t think he has any goodwill left for them. He will absolutely bend them over, telling them he will go nowhere else.

Real has spent fuck all for a number of years. They can easily afford to make two gigantic signings in a window.

What did Valverde do to seem like a knob?

I remember he got hit up on a racism charge when he was a kid playing in a youth tournament in Japan or South Korea with Uruguay after he celebrated a goal with a slant eye gesture. He claimed it was in honour of a friend of his back him who had an Asian nickname. Maybe that’s bad, but maybe it’s the sort of dumb shit someone from an ethnically homogenous place does when they’re 18. Either way it was 6-7 years ago now and I dont know of too much more that would flag him as a ball bag. The only other incident I can think of is the one recently in which he chinned an opposition player, and it was revealed that the player made jokes about the loss of a pregnancy he and his partner had just experienced, and I think once he told his side of the story everyone accepted it as thoroughly justified.

He plays tough and will not think twice about sticking the boot in, but we tend to appreciate that when it’s a player in our shirt.

Never thought of him as such but didn’t he have this bust up with that Villarreal player recently? Where his family got death threats or something, he allegedly punched him.

It looks like Mahrez is joining the exodus to Saudi Arabia

Makes sense, less of a culture shock for him than most, and he is 32 now. This will be his last big payday.
