Summer Transfer Window 2023

No. But this bid for Rice has achieved two things - pushed up the price other clubs are having to pay and by stepping away City can claim that other clubs are outspending them.

If I was Arsenal I’d be tempted to withdraw the offer.

Ha, that’s a good one!

They’ll be looking at players such as Valverde, de Jong, Kimmich or Barella.

If you’re a multi billionaire, you don’t go shopping at Aldi do you?

When they decided not to go as high as we did for Virgil, they went for Laporte instead.

But there were cases when if they didn’t get target A, they decided to sign nobody. Kane, a few summers ago.

It’s hard to tell what their exact idea was with Rice, so maybe they will pursue other players now. Gvardiol surely sounds more likely as their next incoming transfer.

And then it also might depend on who else leaves. Mahrez, maybe Bernardo, who knows. A few defenders like Cancelo, Laporte and Walker might all leave.

Could see them signing maybe 3-4 players, including Kovacic who is already in.

Rhys Williams to Aberdeen on loan confirmed.

Wheres the Rhys Williams loan money John?

Chelsea opening talks with Caicedo from Brighton. Again, we are nowhere to be seen. Cant even say its cos CFC have CL football…they have no Euro football ffs!

It’s quite obviously the fee and wages Chelsea are offering for Caidedo - in which case why would we want to get involved, particularly if they have already got an agreement with the player in place.

Their midfield options are, as things stand, down to: Fernandez, Gallagher, Chukwuemeka and Santos. And who knows if the latter 3 are even going to be there next season. They’re moving players out fast. They need one or two midfielders now, surely. Sets them up nicely to go in serious for Caicedo.

Haven’t we long established if we’re to go on this “rebuild” then it’s evident we wouldn’t be able to accommodate for a player like Caicedo being part of it.

It’s 2-3 x 30-35m players at best, we stay within our confined budget. Gomez and Kelleher to depart to help balance things out so the accounts look a little familiar for FSG.

I agree, we should conduct all our transfer business as publicly as possible.

Is anything ever really discreet these days…it’s all out there in the open, very transparent for all to see well before the official announcement comes so when it does eventually come the instant reaction is “ok, cool…knew about it last week”…that’s kinda the point of journalism.

I agree. He is a very good player who will do well wherever he goes. I think he is also likely to be a bit of a multiplier in that he is likely to make already good players look better. I just dont know that you can justify paying 100m+ for that unless you think he is the last piece of the jigsaw (for Arsenal I dont think he is) or money is no object

…or you’re terrified of being outbid by an oil state funded sportswashing brand.

Cost twice what we paid for Gakpo.

£30m less than we spent on Nunez but £30m more than we spent on Mac Allister.

About what we spent on Konate.

I’m confused here. Do you want us to spend more money, less money or about the same?

Or perhaps it would just be a good idea to stop worrying about how much other teams are spending on players.

Mudryk wouldn’t make our bench.

Havertz has underwhelmed for Chelsea for years and doesn’t seem to be a midfielder or a forward.

Timber has never played outside Holland and we’ll probably be buying a centre back ourselves, maybe even a Dutch one.

The sky is not falling in chicken little, just relax.

George Ilenikhena from Amiens to Royal Antwerp for €6m.

Interesting that he will turn 17 in August.

Interesting, as he’s left footed. Does that mean Mings might be dropping of the starting XI, or there’s a chance for two left footers at CB? I remember Spain played for a while with Laporte and Torres at CB. Morocco played at the last WC also with two lefties at CB, Aguerd and Saiss.

Haven’t they opened talks on Caicedo about 14 times now?
