I do wonder if there is scope for getting a deal done with Brighton if Fab does actually leave. Chelsea seem to be dragging their feet, and we have a good relationship with Brighton.
The only risk for Brighton would be to agree a deal at a lower price with us which Chelsea then use to justify not meeting the orginal asking price - but I would expect we wouldn’t see much of a discount anyway so probably not a problem for Brighton…

I’m not doubting his quality in the slightest - he’s only going to get better and Chelsea have always had a player who was master destroyer but well-rounded in other areas (Makelele, Essien, Kante) - but maybe his conduct was the thing that put off our club’s staff even more than the price tag?
