It’s why I was surprised they were not more active in going for Alexis. As has been said on here a few times, they are quite similar and everyone knew Gundogan was trying to leave
They’re signing a Chelsea player as Gundogan’s replacement aren’t they?
That is what has been suggested, but as much as I like Kovacic, he is a much lesser replacement for a key piece than Alexis would be
That’s a tidy €90mil. profit for Benfica.
It’ll break Benfica’s transfer record if it goes through, the current being Darwin for €24mil.
Enzo?
Edit: Oooh, you mean purchase not sale, right? The mention of profit confused me lol
I meant incoming. Enzo cost them €10mil. plus €8mil. add ons.
Cenk Ozkacar from Lyon to Valencia for €5m.
Loic Bade from Rennes to Sevilla for €12m.
Shane Duffy from Fulham to Norwich on a free.
Hamari Traore from Rennes to Sociedad on a free.
Ansgar Knauff from Dortmund to Eintracht for €5m.
Youri Regeer from Ajax to Utrecht for €900k.
Decent signing for both parties. Will be interesting to see if Villa can go that 1 extra
next season and creep into the EL places next season…think the table read they were 4th from the time Unai took over.
Rumour that Ox may be heading there too.
Looks like the flood of players on way to the middle east is becoming a trickle…Zaha possibly the latest to turn down the offer.

Looks like PSG maybe going through a balance sheet cleanse too.
He looks delighted.
There is part of that given how much Messi was likely making, but a big part of it is that their squad is nonsense, and Campos was hired to turn it into a proper one that wasnt 3 forwards (1 of whom is never available when you need him) and a bunch of role players. I would expect them to be very active this window, not necessarily spending big money but more moving pieces around. Bringing in players like Ugarte who make sense from a footballing perspective.
Someone mentioned Macallister looking unhappy at a medical but then he was all smiles for the publicity.
I’d be really worried if he had looked like that for the publicity.
It’s a spontaneous moment before the press conference, not an official photo shooting from Roma. Mac does have that almost fake, sour smile. Who cares though.
Even the way he’s holding up the shirt, “Guys, how much longer do I have to hold this up”
They do this straight after the medical I think, and that lasts for what? 3-5 few hours? These guys are human beings, money doesn’t make them superhuman. It’d be normal to be anxious or nervous or just plain tired. I even felt I heard his voice quivering when he gave the first interview. He’ll settle in.
I don’t understand why they don’t follow the Bayern model and hoover up all the talent coming through the French league and then supplement with the odd splashy signing.
So much talent in France that they could be building around and weakening league opponents at the same time.
