On a serious note, I wonder what role Mourinho has in store for him. Silva being a snide bastard makes me overlook at times what brilliant and tactically astute player he is. He’s no Modrić, of course, but if Mourinho is looking at someone who can work hard, probably in central midfield, while being amazing in possession, he’s the man.
They are reducing the average age of their squad, giving chances to young players, not signing overpaid established players, while also reducing their wage bill. If they get to grips with midweek-weekend rhythm quickly, they will be in the mix for the title pretty soon.
