Those are not the Aurora Borealis. Light pillars are caused by a layer of ice crystals in the air at a lower altitude than they are commonly found.

My guess would be a robot drone that is maintaining a position relative to the back of his head. It makes the most dramatic correction at the end when he turns his head.

I feel dizzy watching that film. :scream: :flushed: I could never do that, I am not brave enough to do extreme sports.

That makes sense - the gear on his back is the stick, not a tracking unit. A lot cheaper than a drone capable of that speed and tracking.
