Theres enough toxicity without reading his performative shite.

Point proven without having to even name you.

That little fishy took that bite.

Why are we only nice when we’re winning?

Something to do with problem solving I think.

The only positive that came out of the whole insult says is now we know where mods draw the line…Muppets are fine, cunts are not. It’s Muppets time!

Oh …

In all seriousness, one of the main reasons I left (apart from the laxity of moderation permitting trolls and spammers to remain on here far too long – some of whom are still around), is that the quality of debate here has far deteriorated compared to the (earlier) TIA days.

It’s not just the knee-jerk hysterics that spills out from match threads and pervades everywhere, with a win meaning we’ll win the quad, and a draw or loss meaning we’ll fail to qualify for Europe, but also the other nasty aspects of social media seeping into discourse here. Just look at the lynching of Alexander-Arnold, the desperation to believe every single random nobody wannabe “influencer’s” social media rumourmongering about every single thing, but above all, the constant conflation of feeling with “thinking”.

Far too many people use the word “think” without considering what it means. Newsflash: your emotional (over)reaction does not constitute thinking. Nor does mindless regurgitation of social media platforms, especially ones owned by fascist racists who have been proven to manipulate the algorithms desperately to influence popular opinion.

Many friends on here have told me to give this place a second chance when the transfer window cooled down, so some of the morons would slink away into the shadows they crawled out from.

But quite frankly, not having to engage with blithering idiots on here or read their drivel has made me far happier, improving my mental health leaps and bounds. So @Mascot, don’t “consider” it. Do it.

The tipping point has been crossed, and the forum culture is now one Messrs. Dunning and Kruger would love to study. Unless you mods change the culture by weeding out the rotten apples, it’ll only get worse.

Its riddled with confirmation bias.

Don’t get me wrong. This was by no means an exhaustive list. I just can’t be arsed to spend more time on dissecting it.

I hope we’d all agree, @Mascot has enriched this forum immensely and it would be much worse for it if he left. But Ive had to take time out myself and sometimes its necessary. To pull back when the meaning of it is becoming much more than it should be. Yet also there is with that some quite personal assaults on any poster who dare post something outside the mainstream.

I think the manner of writing on the internet, all of it, needs more than a light touch. If we are losing posters and not attracting new ones, and also, I saw last week a new poster really not welcomed at all, then something is not right.

To be honest, even as a relatively recent member, I have also considered just stepping back a bit just recently as the atmosphere has tended to heat up a bit too much at times.

Yes, we’re all frustrated at recent performances and the way things have turned out but we all want the same things, don’t we? A team that is firing on all cylinders and playing like champions? We’ve all got our own opinions on the players, manager and club right now, but like with any argument we will eventually calm down and want to just get along with each other again, won’t we? None of us is perfect and none of us has the answers, so why kick out at each other to the point where people begin to feel targeted and persecuted? We can surely agree to differ in a respectful manner, can’t we?

We have always encouraged the pub analogy. Part of banter is sometimes taking the piss. I actually like how half the forum call me a cunt, it’s a sign of endearment !

In all honesty I have been called far worse than a muppet I much prefer cock womble

Makes me laugh the comparisons to TIA and the rose tinted glasses. Honestly some of the shit pulled in that forum crossed lines to the extent if the police had got involved it would have been perfectly valid. Stuff that would impact peoples normal lives outside of the forum. Yet we have a hundred posts here because a mod deleted a post ….

The reality is as a mod team we can guide directions like a flow of water. For every poster complaining about mods deleting a post for calling someone a cunt (and telling a mod to fuck off) we will have another poster complaining we are too lax.

Posters come and go. Often with little to do with the forum. I have stepped back due to personal life stuff. Nothing to do with love of club or community. Honestly I still read almost everyday and it’s still my primary connection to the club.

As someone part of TIA and now TAN (20 or so years) quality has always ebbed and flowed. I remember the dark days of Rafa where half of TIA hated the other half. Trust me there was not much quality debate. HowlingFanTodd will live in infamy. Those were the dark ages. By the time the forum was shutting down posters where literally posting tumbleweed gifs as no one had posted in 24 hours.

We are a small community, and actually a pretty decent one. We can trust our members more than other forums. On quality well that often feeds itself. The more our members post quality the more others will be inclined to post things of quality. At TIAs height there was typically 4-5 posters at any one time posting high quality stuff (Broomy, Sweeting, myself :winking_face_with_tongue: etc)

What I am trying to say is the onus of responsibility is on all of us. I created this place for the community. Can bitch and moan and point the finger at the mods. But the reality is if you want this place to grow, if you want more quality it’s up to the community.

Just to bring the debate back round again. If you tell someone to stop being a muppet in a pub, it might sting a little but you would laugh it off. If you call someone a cunt or to fuck off, a bouncer will typically get involved.

Well said @ISMF. TIA could be an abysmal place at times. It provided good and horribly bad moments, depending on what happened around the club. This place is the same I feel, apart from the fact that we know each other better.

Quite amusing thread this one, right alongside the Arne one.

For some reason I appear to have reached inner peace with all things LFC and that puts an amusing tilt on things in these threads.

I shall now add the obligatory gif to wind up a mod.
