Ah that’s why @Hope.in.your.heart has been poking me a few times about my gif usage. I thought it was to do with server capacity or some sort of impediment to site performance.
If that’s not the case I don’t really see what the problem is. It most certainly isn’t like Discord here in terms of gif usage. And I am yet to encounter a single gif usage that wasn’t immediately obvious to me based on either the quoted post or the immediate context around it.
Like others mentioned, I think the X-link proliferation is a far far more of an eyesore and doesn’t immediately generate cogent conversation.

On 2 July 2026, the German Football League (DFL) will announce the schedule of Bundesliga and 2. Bundesliga. I am be excited about the home matches against FC Schalke 04 and Borussia Mönchengladbach. And I hope, we do not play in the opening match against Bayern Munich.

I am fine and at an amazing rock festival. It was a shockingly hot day yesterday.
But not as bad as it is in France and probably Germany.
