I’m not sure where to put this, but I’d like to put it forward for consideration that much of the past couple of hundred posts in the UK Politics thread is essentially bullying and harassment of @Mascot, which I’m pretty sure is against the community guidelines.
It’s quite obvious now that there’s no real attempt to discuss anything of substance that Mascot has posted, nor refute the points that he made about the topics at hand, but just constant attempts to bait him and harping on completely related past grievances and grudges.
Quite frankly, I was away for a few weeks/months, and it looks like things have just gotten worse on here. If @Mascot wasn’t a mod, I’m pretty sure quite a few people in that thread would have been banned by now, so what’s the difference here?

I avoid that thread as it seems to be completely toxic. It’s a shame that the important issues of the day can’t be discussed in a respectful way. Obviously that’s a problem that goes far further than this forum, but it’s unpleasant wherever it happens.
There’s a lot of stuff that it is written online that is unnecessarily rude and insulting, I was called ‘obnoxious’ for making a quip today for example, because people aren’t thinking about the effect of their words or how they will be received.
I guess you just have to grow a thick skin and remember, none of it is real.

Very true, and many people would do much better if they remembered it when reading and posting stuff on here.
Also, this forum is a reflection of what happens in society. It’s a mirror. So, what do we see in there? It’s interesting, and certainly a way to learn some things.

That was a reply to me. One guy was just being obnoxious tbh, no big deal for me. It’s done, I said all I wanted to say there. The mad thing is, no one behaves like that in real life, we’d all get along just great at a match and in the pub.

I’ve stayed off that thread completely because its like the usual denizens of that thread are actively looking for fights. And as @redalways said, the amount of energy one expends to refute certain assumptions and allegations, only to be then met with steadfast refusal to relinquish the cognitive dissonance. It’s toxic and exhausting.

In the politics forum both the US and the UK ones, it is a hallmark feature of one side piling onto one poster. This time round it is Mascot who is supposedly left, seemingly gets piled on. But there have been other instances where posters from right of politics get piled on by posters of the left.
And guess whats the commonality amongst these 2 groups? Both think they are correct and refused to see that there might be common grounds, so it will always be a shit show. I do not know why it is locked because its not new, perhaps because it involves a mod being piled on or because its the right who is doing the piling now.
In any case, i think the rest of us are just waiting for Minteh to sign.
Must admit to avoiding that thread of late because it seems to be a platform for a couple of people who have nothing better to do,fine if that is what does it for them.As has been suggested at least one is a formerly banned user, the ban hammer,seemingly gathering dust in the cupboard,might need dusting off.
