It would help the forums enormously if people could try to keep disagreements and arguments in the thread in which they happened and avoid the temptation to drag them in other discussions.

It’s become a cargo cult.
I think a lot of people, including myself at times, forget the context. It’s an online football forum where (mostly) people share their opinions on football and other stuff. We don’t really know each other at all, we’re just avatars and nicknames. I think that, having read your posts for a good few years, that you are a highly intelligent and interesting person. You seem, at times, to lack a certain amount of patience for those, like me, who are on a lower intellectual level, which is understandable, but which might offend some of your interlocutors. I’m very happy to have benefitted from your extensive knowledge, especially on US politics, but on other topics too. This place would be much poorer without you here.
In general, the tone on TAN, in keeping with the general level of public discourse, has become shrill and unforgiving. There is a level of panic and insecurity which is bordering on hysterical. We do not have a crap team. We do not need ten new signings. We just need time for our new manager to stamp his mark. We have a lot of very good players, and none of them are shit, as some on here claim.
Hopefully once the window closes and we get a couple of wins, people will calm down a bit and this place will become enjoyable again.

It’s a pity we can’t have a ‘no dickheads’ rule when people join the TAN community. That might weed out certain inhabitants of L14, for example.

We have agreed and disagreed in various topics, but as Bekloppt say I respect your knowledge, understanding and intelligence.
Whether we disagree or agree, mostly agree lately, you always balance your arguments and put it in a level way.
However, like me you don’t suffer ‘fools’ well, no offence Bekloppt 
I do agree with your post and what I take from it personally is not to get into petty long arguments with other posters.

I noticed about a year ago (returning after a short absence from the forum) that the atmosphere on here had gotten a bit more gnarly and indeed, I posted a comment on it.
Since then it has gotten steadily worse though I still haven’t put anyone on ignore as I like to keep a view of the flora and fauna as it were. I usually browse through most posts across the threads and automatically end up paying attention to only certain posters’/threads’ combinations or themes.
There was a time when I’d have responded to everything that increased the pulse but after having gotten to know the patterns of most posters, I barely read or rarely engage with the posters that are not my cup of tea. Over time this has taken the edge off the frustration but the price paid is in a personal gain in cynicism and a diminishing of empathy.
In the end there are posters that make this place brighter and more cheery and those that darken it - I try to gravitate to towards the light. Thank-you to those that make this a brighter and more cheery place!

Was talking to someone about a decade ago now and he mentioned a quote, cannot recall it exactly or who it was originally from (if it indeed was a quote by someone famous) but it went along the lines of “The world is full of dicks and pussies” - it took me a while to accept the truth in it.
