I did not insult him, I spoke a fact about what has been happening in the forum regarding the in joke and insults coming from him that he cultivated over years. He then chose to insult me which as apparently his way, one should not get offended about. Fuck that shit. Enough is enough, he needed to be called out about it and the forum needed a wake up call about it.
Funny you should metion cretinous behaviour because regardless of his grammar, that’s exactly how he behaved and got away with it.

I think the absolute shit-fest that this thread has turned into this afternoon aptly demonstrates exactly why the mod team has made the decision that it needs to step in more actively than we’ve wanted to until now, and surprise surprise it was all kicked off by the poster who has most strongly objected to that idea.
Few things:
As I said in one of my earlier replies to you, at the moment this is only being applied to the transfer threads a) to help everyone adjust and b) in the summer those are the threads people come to for relevant news, discussion and updates. And I think it has worked pretty well since and I would hope other members would agree.
If you’ve had to wade through hundreds of irrelevant posts after a week away from the forum, then no fucking shit, this is what it’s like for every other forum user every day trying to filter out all the tedious in-jokes, ‘witty’ remarks, pedantry and insults and again, this is exactly why when the new season kicks off the same principles we’ve put in place in the rumour mill will apply across the rest of the forum.
And as it’s been brought up, I’ll say that on a personal note I was absolutely fucking appalled when Ubermick told us that he’d asked @cynicaloldgit to tone down the abrasiveness of some of his posts and been told to jog on… this is someone who, when taking TIA into account, has contributed far more than you or I ever will. He hasn’t returned since and frankly I don’t blame him, just as I don’t blame Sweeting for finally deciding he’d had enough, someone else who is much-mourned as a top contributor to this community.
Just like everyone else you’re welcome to be a part of this community but doing so doesn’t mean that you, or anyone, has carte blanche to say whatever they want whenever they want. Insults have no place here - even if you think they’re funny, no-one else does, least of all the person they’re directed at. If you want somewhere you can broadcast every thought that crosses your mind, start a blog. If you want to trade in-jokes with cronies then, as Mascot has already suggested, set up a Whatsapp group.
As mods all we want is what I’m sure the vast majority here want, a friendly, welcoming community with interesting discussion on a wide variety of subjects, not least the club we all support. If you want to be a part of that then great, if not then also great, there’s the door.
And yet we still don’t have a clear definition of “off topic”

I can’t accept being singled out for abuse by someone who I actually agreed on loads of stuff with. Because he has developed immunity from criticism through his alleged age, his "curmudgeonly " character etc etc.
In the so called virtual pub, the resident cynic ALWAYS oversteps the mark. In a real pub he gets decked. He stropped for the last few days, made his reappearance today and started with insults towards @wyld.at.hrt and myself. Why? Because we didn’t go gooey eyed at his every crap observation on life.
