I don’t know. I read him write that he was leaving due to what he percieved to be lack of initial condemnation of the guy who drove into the trophy crowd and that he was outraged that he was given the benefit of the doubt by many (including me, I guess, because I honestly thought it was a tragic accident when I first saw the video, since it didn’t look like a terror attack to my eye then).
But others claim he left because of Off Topic jokes or something. I don’t know.

I truly hope he comes back.

He left because he was thoroughly pissed off with every thread being hijacked with the same old shit by a group of posters. Fortunately one of them has been shown the door and things have improved since. It certainly would be nice to see him back now.

A personal observation - the vibe on TAN seems a bit less jovial and a bit more gnarly. Is it just the long dark that is the off-season or is this a permanent switch?

My view is that it has been getting more gnarly and snippy for a while but the off season has seen it ramp up massively. Hopefully once we see grown men kick a peice of leather on some grass things will calm down a bit

We are exactly 7days from kicking-off the new season as Champions… Bournemouth next Friday night -Yay

As exciting a time at the club as I can remember… No more Bodgers bullshit, no more Roy, no more journeyman players coming in as a stop gap while our meagre finances get sorted…

In this feelgood moment, hopefully for all fans of the club, it does remain, we seem to have lost a number of posters between the beginning of last season, and the start of this one. Obviously, for many different reasons it needs to be said…

At a juncture like this, new campaign, new buzz of what is to come, does the forum, mods in particular, have any sort of recruitment flourish with past forumites, or in other cases, an amnesty window, for a pardoning of misdemeanours, well at least a retrial over past behaviour fuck-ups…

In short, is any contact ever made from the site to these past participants… not so much an olive-branch approach, but a common-sense discussion to evaluate, and maybe reassess the main reasons posters are not participating any longer… Whether the ultimate decision of returning is in their own hands or not, I feel we have lost out on some valued commentary participation. Overturning this would be a bonus in my book.

To me, it just feels a tad awkward when sniping, rather than banter, is still taking place against people who have gone absent, both recently, and against those from the past. Seems to be par for the course in social media though, but it must be said, in general… I find there are plenty of good footballing people on here, knowledgeable fans across many subjects, which to me, overrides some of the negatives that crop up from time to time.

None of us know what is happening in peoples lives at any one moment in time, and people can be quick to judge, or rise to anger… At the end of the day, it is a combination of the posters and the mods, that make the site what it is… and I can only speak for myself, but as a long standing fan of LFC, it is a forum site that I thoroughly enjoy. Be it banter, crossing swords, or generally, communicating with people from walks of life I may never have crossed paths with otherwise…

People leave, thats life. I can’t see the Mods/Admins asking anyone to return.
The posters like Sweeting are a major loss to the forum. Maybe, given the tidying of threads, he might be back?

How many members have been banned?
The most recent is suspended, rather than outright banned. I don’t know if there are plans to allow him back.

Re sniping rather than banter regarding banned members…whats the harm in honesty?

Been informed that suspended equals banned due to forum software.

I checked this yesterday, in the five years since the forum launched there have been 7 bans.

One of these was a spam bot, and another was an alias of one of the other 5 banned posters.

So it’s basically one a year average. I feel like that definitely puts us on the more tolerant end of the forum spectrum, personally.
