Took me a while to get there, as I would much rather give the benefit of the doubt. Differences in viewpoint are usually opportunities to boost understanding, but after numerous exchanges on the US Politics thread I concluded that he was not posting in good faith.
For a while I wondered if he/she was a bot being trained for, well, whatever these sorts of things are trained up for. Then I thought it was someone who is paid to promote this across the net-space. I am hoping the later is true over some who really believes and gives life to that lunacy… Then of course I’m not sure what I’m more scared about, that there are people that believe that stuff or that there are people willing to pay to promote that stuff…
You can click on someone’s name to bring up a message or chat option linked to the part of the forum you are in.
Another way you could do it is to look on the left-hand side of the page where it says, topics, my posts, admin revamp etc.
Click on More.
Click on users
and then look for the name of the person there and click on the name of the person to bring up the message function.
Having been an avid reader of TAN, and TIA forums before, for a long time, I still wonder how we have gone down from contributors like @BillyBiskix and @ILLOK to @Jackbenimble . And I am not even taking into consideration our much admired posters like @Limiescouse , @Kopstar, @Sweeting etc. Then there are the mods, who keep the house sorted, for free.
I don’t think it’s an unusual request from TAN team to keep the house clean?
We’ve always had a range of posters and posting styles. A range of backgrounds, experiences, expertise, outlooks etc.
There have been a few who are just unpleasant but for the most part the ignore function works pretty well if you’ve had enough of a particular perspective.
I find on mobile it works less well in terms of overall experience - yes, the person’s messages don’t appear in the thread itself when reading through it, but it does show up as a new post alert on the front page, so I keep clicking on a thread thinking other people have posted something I can read as I don’t think the mobile version shows who poster was from the initial screen. I don’t think it gets marked as read either once you have clicked through, so I forget and click on it again a few minutes later…and again…and again…
I know what you mean, but the avatar appears next to the thread so you can see who last posted. So, Retrohelix posted last in the Spurs thread and Aussie in the Arsenal.
Of course, you need to know the avatars of the people you are ignoring.
I love Jackie and pray that he gets a chance to do a trip through the Andies. I would love to go with him but you know the reasons for which I would not.
