I had post deleted, think it was an answer to @Sithbare regarding Phil Collins? Innocuous enough, but its not a major deal.

To be fair, any mention of Phil Collins should result in a lifetime ban…

Agreed. Immediately get that stupid drum fill in my head when I see his name, it’s like Pavlov’s drums

What makes a gif “on topic”??
The Trump gif used by @dalglish was plain stupid, not relevant and needed binning. His quicksand one was smart though to be fair.

Certain ppl dont like gifs and memes?
I’m one of those “ppl”…or as I might write, people.
The place is littered with this shit. The odd one, used with relevance is fine, but most are inane and unrelated to the topic discussed.

I doubt they are being deleted because of ppl not liking them? Its because the mods need to keep the place tidy?

I agree

Nah, it’s all good. Just ironic to have a post deleted for being off-topic which was pointing out that another post was off-topic.

 noooooooooooo!!!

Who do I have to insult to get a post deleted?

Feeling a bit left out here :joy:

Because people open the thread and have to scroll through pages and pages of crap until they reach the point where the actual discussion starts.

How many pages of crap were there? Care to give some stats?

I’ve had probably 20 posts deleted in the last month.

I just said meh and got on with my day.

Stop being fannies and give me some likes.

About four on my display, which is four too many.

Holy shit!

People looking for hard and fast rules won’t find them.

The mods are only trying to bring balance

We have a very light touch generally and just try to nudge things in the right direction. Like a good ref most of time it’s unseen. Sometimes though we need to take more assertive corrective action.

We want balance. Good humour, quality, passion, good debate, friendships etc. multiple dimensions trying to keep in alignment. Stray to far one way, it comes at expensive of another. The force becomes disrupted.

Even things inherently good (like humour) can tip into Jar Jar chaos if it drowns out substance. Passionate is fantastic.. but not if your blinkered.

Gifs are not inherently good or bad. Likewise often corrective action is not about an individual. It’s mods simply trying to balance to forum so it does not fall to either extreme . Even if you don’t like it, the intent is good. The intent is so that other positive aspects of forum are not lost.

Indeed. And of course, I deleted the post above, as it contained an especially eye-hurting gif. :face_with_spiral_eyes:

Seriously, as Nik and ismf wrote above, it’s a question of balance, and lately, there are too many of them. So I’ve done what I consider as the best for the site, which is to take away a part. No big issue, and no-one should take personal offense from this.

However, if everyone could think a second before posting a gif without any further comment, it would be very appreciated.

WTF are these??? @admins can’t you delete these???

What is this thing, a good ref?

If you see or find one please show the evidence.

Let’s give the user chance. They might come good.
