Bloody inflation, you only charged me $20
Shame you weren’t able to post a gif about that ![]()
The problem is not really pissing off people, there are posters who are pissing me off at times, and it’s ok.
When your posting create a negative atmosphere on the forum and constantly distracts from the discussions, you should either change or leave. If you can’t do the right thing by yourself, then it’s up to the mods.
If it was who I thought it was, they only ever showed up when things weren’t going well for us and then fucked off as soon as they did. I don’t think they were an actual fan, just a troll from somewhere. I just ignored them, but I’ve no problem with a ban for that kind of behaviour.
The problem is that even if you ignore them, it’s hard to ignore the whole noise created by other posters who couldn’t or didn’t want to ignore them.
Yeah, ignore doesn’t really work. I’ve tried ignoring posters I don’t like, but it makes conversations impossible to follow.
Just out of interest though, Jack was as of yesterday, the most ignored poster on the site, well past the point where the forum software gets involved to tell us there might be a problem
He had already had two private messages from me advising that he was annoying a lot other posters with his style, there was a general assumption that he was on the wind up, and he was on thin ice going forward.
So when his first contribution to the match thread was a pop at me with his childish Peter Pan jibe, I’m sorry, but he’s done. He isn’t going to take on board anything being asked of him. He is just going to continue to poke and wind people up.
It’s annoying when people only post when they can be negative, but that in itself isn’t ban worthy in my view. The problem with Jack was that it wasn’t just negativity, it was also antagonistic, and came with an edge of wanting to validate his own opinions, and call out and attack people who disagreed at the time. That’s the kind of thing that builds discord
I hope everyone appreciates that it is incredibly rare that we ban people. It’s just not how it works here. That’s a double edged sword, as people are indulged here to behave in ways that would have never been tolerated on TIA, but that’s probably worth it for the community we have have here.
@rer and @gasband I appreciate the feedback, but it would be interesting to know what you think a Mod actually does? I could give up being a mod, and 99.99% of my interaction with this site would not change a bit. Being a mod is a vanishingly tiny part of my membership here. There is honestly not very much to do, and the site more or less runs itself (from my point of view, ISMF has a lot more to do on the back end tech side)
Very occasionally there is a conversation about a difficult poster, and we’ll have conversation about what to do. Sometimes we have to deal with a report, which will involve approving a post or opting to hide it. We don’t often follow up with any action towards the poster.
The majority of my mod work, when it actually comes up, is getting rid of Spam, blocking scammers and spammers, putting threads in the right section, and generally tidying up. I’m happy to stop doing that, if people want me to stop?
You are probably one of the few people on this forum that I don’t care whether you are a mod or just a regular member or leave the forum whatever. But its just an internet forum, so it does not bother me much as maybe some other members do.
But your job as a mod, in regards to Jack, I fully agree with the decision to ban him for reasons I already stated. What I think of you does not cloud over what I think is a right decision.
The internet has made it too easy for people to get away with being as abrasive and anti-social as possible with next to no consequences.
The amusing thing is if you look at last season it was 180 degree the opposite, he only commented to call out people who were being too negative in the match threads. The transition has been amusing, but the consistency is the posts are only about confrontation and calling out specific people
This part is probably one that should convince reasonable people, because it makes it clear that it’s not about just having different opinions, important or significant; or personal beef that it’s hard to get mentally over because someone hurt or enraged you much in the past.
I can be a very difficult person myself, I know this and sometimes I react wrong because of either misunderstanding intent or because I get too emotional, but it’s difficult for me when I get incensed. But I don’t post to wind people up on purpose and it seems to me that Jack did that much too much.
Some might find the Peter pan comment amusing, but it’s mockery. You know it, I know it, mockery can be amusing seen from the outside, but it is what it is and it there is too much of it, most people will react to it (I would react badly). And this isn’t just about him mocking Mascot with “fun mockery”, but more a general trend of trollish behaviour. I really don’t think this is about having an entirely different opinion about either how we are playing, manager or anything like that tbh.
I don’t normally take much notice of anyone being banned and wouldn’t take any glee from it as I’m pretty sure I’ve been close to it myself on a number of occasions but I have to say I was rather pleased to see said poster has been banned by Mascot (who I disagree with on most things) as he was, quite frankly, a fucking knobhead.
He was the forum equivalent of the defender who has his back to the ball and ignores the play around him just to physically block his man at set pieces.
No he only commented if criticism was against certain players and it was always a barb or trolling no conversation or reason or explanation, he is the only poster I have called a troll and a fuckwit, and I was proven right again

The rest of troll and fuckwit community rejoice at evading detection
Luckily I can’t call myself it or can I?
Oh boy, not entirely sure where the list should start.
I guess maybe by introducing myself first? ![]()
That’s to be expected if your an Aussie or are you just trolling Aussies, if so you are playing the part well ![]()
As I told the immigrantion agent when I arrived at Heathrow in 2006 when he asked my purpose of visit - to raise the IQ average of both UK and Australia
So you were rejected as you failed on both?
