The Arsenal Thread

They have obviously had some big ones this season, but the fans and Arteta were already on this level of persecution last year before Klopp left so it feels just a continuation of that.

It goes back to at least the Newcastle game where they thought the goal should have been disallowed because if you complain about enough different things in an attack the ref is honour bound to call one your way even if you cannot make a great argument about any of them individually.

I think they’ve been harsh on one but compared to some of ours hardly.

However I don’t mind if our current rivals for this title keep rubbing them up the wrong way. We know they are vindictive well some are.

Mikel Arteta says Liverpool ‘normally’ face a difficult spell:

“They normally do, so we have to be there, that’s for sure. The margins are really, really small. You can see how things could’ve gone last weekend.”

Liverpool’s “difficult” spells aren’t half as bad as Arsenal’s.

Last league title: Arsenal 2004, Liverpool 2020

Last FA Cup: Arsenal 2020, Liverpool 2022

Last League Cup: Arsenal 1993, Liverpool 2024

Last Champions League: Bwahahahahahaha

Saying this with fingers crossed… but we may have already had our blip… Two draws in the last 4 PL games
This Slot guy doesn’t seem to mess about does he

February looks to be Liverpool’s most difficult month of the season in terms of fixture list. We’ll see how the table looks like in month’s time. I have to admit that I expected Arsenal to drop at least two more points given Saka’s absence but their defence looks to be on point, they even contribute important goals in narrow wins. That’s what’s keeping them in the title race at the end of the day.

I’m sick of hearing how hard done to these cunts are every time I turn on the tv or radio. Half the teams in the PL have more injuries than these and they’ve had one fucking iffy call go against them. Hardly any mention of the corner they got against Spurs that was the difference between winning the game and dropping 2/3 points.
It doesn’t even scratch the surface with the bullshit we have to put up with season in season out and against these on several occasions.
I fucking despise everything about them, an absolute fucking shitstain of a club.

This weekend is one of their best chances to close the gap, which is odd to say considering they are playing City and we are playing Bournemouth. But Bournemouth have been tough this season, and Arsenal are hosting City.

Agree and disagree. City beating Chelsea last week does add a level of intrigue and importance here, though likely too many distractions for City to really mount a solid effort (CL must win midweek). Who knows, the angry norweign dude hates lego pep. Stay humble eh?

I don’t disagree - it is a tough weekend, but as they look at the schedule, they need to see two weekends from 15 where they can gain 3 points. Depending on the derby result, that could become three weekends. LFC away to Bournemouth is going to be one of their better opportunities.

Beating City and being no closer for it would be a psychological test for them as a group, dropping points would be very damaging.

At the beginning of January, I told my friends that I would be pleased if Liverpool got seven points from their trips to Forest, Brentford and Bournemouth. At that point, I didn’t expect Bournemouth to be this good, so I presumed we’d drop point at Forest (because that trip has been pretty difficult ever since they hosted Liverpool in FA Cup three years ago).

If Liverpool are six points ahead of Arsenal at the end of February, having played the same amount of games, I’ll start dreaming.

Personally I think the biggest threat is FSG. Just my opinion mind - well not really. I know that criticising the current ownership in any way shape or form is tantamount to heresy on this site but there is is.

Makes this coming weekend a massive game.

I’m convinced Arsenal will beat Man City, so it’s up to our lads to make that game less worthy to Arsenal.

It’s not - and I’m telling that as a relative FSG critic. The thing is, with them, the opinions are completely polarising and that gets on my nerves. But that’s a discussion for another thread.

I’m reliably informed that Man City are “back” so Arsenal will surely take an absolute stuffing.

I’ve got a theory about Bournemouth that I’ve mentioned but we will see, regarding their game I can see it ending in a draw.

Not sure how true this is… Maybe mind games, but…

Andoni Iraola makes Liverpool promise as Bournemouth set to be without nine players

In-form Bournemouth will once again be down to the bare bones for their eagerly anticipated Premier League clash at home to Liverpool on Saturday

Their excellent run of form has seen them rise up to seventh in the Premier League and one point behind fourth-placed Man City as well as progressing to the FA Cup fourth round, where they will travel to Everton.

Bournemouth’s performances are all the more impressive given the amount of players they are currently missing. While Marcus Tavernier returned in the demolition of Forest, Andoni Iraola will still be without nine key players against the Reds this weekend through injury or unavailability: defenders Marcos Senesi, Julian Araujo, Adam Smith, Julio Soler and James Hill; midfielder Alex Scott, and forwards Evanilson, Enes Unal and Luis Sinisterra.

But rather than use the lengthy absentee list as an excuse, Iraola has used it to galvanise his side and he is promising to continue to go after opponents even as lofty as Liverpool.

It’s absolutely true. There were some wonderful shots from the weekend of the collection of unavailable players standing in street clothes in the tunnel waiting to greet the match day group off the pitch. There were fucking loads of them. They looked like an amateur team who had been given VIP entry to the game.

They only had a skeleton crew for that demolition of Forest! I heard some stat along the lines that excluding Tavernier, their substitutes had a combined total of 12 PL appearances this season, with three of them never having made a PL appearance at all.

Anyway, not Arsenal, but something they have to be looking at
