The Arsenal Thread

Yeah, and we would have two (more) Premier Leagues if we had the 97 and 92 point seasons in the last two years.

Who’d have thought relying on long throws into the box wasn’t a great tactic for a CL semi final.

That set piece coach is always front and centre when they have an attacking set play but they’re fucking woeful at defending them. And his new tactic is peak Rory Delap.

All wheels, no cannon.

They’re one of the best four clubs in Europe. It’s a beautiful story, beautiful. The most perfect type of beautiful. Grown men, with years in their eyes, have stopped me in the street to tell me how beautiful it is.

This doesn’t even make sense if you think about it.

Partey was struggling to get the ball towards the penalty spot by the 8th long throw he did.

His defending on the third one was world class.

Just let Mac lob Raya from the halfway line on Sunday and our season will be complete.

Would be hilarious now if they were to drop out of the CL places and spurs qualify by winning the Europa league!

You’d have to say the “Lego” quickly, but the chant should work.

Lego Tony Pulis
You’re just a Lego Tony Pulis…

"Arsenal put in a good performance tonight, but not good enough.

They had 19 shots to PSG’s 11, enjoyed 55 per cent of possession, and created an expected goals total (xG) of 3.2 to 1.7."

Arteta (reads as): we won the league and we are in the CL final with our small squad’s bravery

And it is only going to get worse in the next few weeks starting with the guard of honour…and then the other “big” English teams load up the trophy cabinet.

  • LFC - the big one done
  • Newcastle - got one
  • Chelsea as good as
  • City as good as
  • United probs unfortunately but to really hurt Arse go spurs

Salt. Wound. Lovin it

Let’s hope Betis (I prefer them to Fiorentina), Palace and Spurs can cause minor surprises.

Although United losing shouldn’t surprise anyone these days.

I don’t understand the BBC stats on xG. They have PSG set play xG at 0.06 but I thought a penalty was around 0.75 by itself.

In fairness Arsenal were great for 10 minutes at the start and then really had a go late on. But in between that I thought PSG were pretty comfortable.

In the end it’s not about xG itself, it’s who can outscore their xG. The best teams do that more consistently.

To my eye PSG won with margin to spare. And without their best player too.

We gave them by far their toughest test.

Arsenal have nothing to play for now, other than ensuring a CL spot for next season. I expect them to be quite dirty against us, unfortunately.

Strange game that. No feigned injuries so they could have a little team meeting on the touchline, no life-threatening head injuries, no shithousery and time-wasting…if they played like that every game they’d have a much better chance of actually winning stuff. I hope they keep lego-head forever.

1,377 days since Arsenal won a trophy. I’ve been counting.
