The Captaincy: Who's your pick?

I’d expect it to be VVD, I’d quite like Robertson.

Suprised he’s doing so well in the poll since so many have seemed eager to drop him so we could play three at the back.

I don’t see a reason to drop Robbo at all. Easily capable of playing in a 3 in our ‘system’.

Any of them could be captain. In Germany isn’t normally the longest serving player?

I don’t see Robbo being dropped at all. Our formation backline will be slightly like a pendulum formation where Robbo comes down to a LCB postion when the attacks originate with Trent in his midfield role…

And with Trent as a third member of the defensive trio when Robbo goes up to his LM position.

I’d go with Robbo.

I think it’s the notion most people think TAA is going play CDM, that’s not the idea Klopp has in my view.

It’s a system to switch to against certain teams.

Van Dijk has been the captain after Henderson and Milner, don’t think Klopp will change that.

So it will be van Dijk TAA, Salah, Robertson IMO.

I thought Robbo had been after VVD, he had the armband at least one time last season or was that because TAA went off?

Could be, I have see Salah with it too, we will hear soon enough but van Dijk will be his captain for the season.

VVD. Next?

might be a bit early in his LFC career to be named captain,

but Gakpo could be a dark horse for the captancy in the future,

Captain at PSV at the age of 23…

@dutch would blow a gasket!

Looking at the moment Trent is told he’s Vice Cap…does anyone else think he looks disappointed…

Pretty sure Klopp and the whole squad had zero doubts that it was going to be Virgil.

Trent stayed calm (Klopp probably told him to do so and to not tell anyone until he makes it official) and seemed to be more focused on resuming training.

Honestly not worried at all. Think it’s the right progression — Virgil for a couple years then Trent long term. I’d imagine this plan is not exactly surprising to anyone either so I can’t see anyone being disappointed about it.

Once again Klopp nails it.

No argument from me with VVD and the local lad.

When VVD misses a game through injury and TAA leads that will be a nice moment. I’d love to see Ali become the new VC.

Let me stop you there… :joy:

Jurgens done an interview about the captaincy, vice-captaincy, and leadership group. Interesting watch/read.

Surprising to hesr the Robbo is a bit Milly like in terms of dicispline, and it was revealed yest by Virgil that Robbo might be the judge of the players court.

Klopp also highlights that Ali and Mo’s roles in the leadership group are more about doing what they do, leading by example etc.

Robbo learnt everything from Milly. From snideness , to playing at leftback and obviously now the discipline aspect as well.

He grew up in Glasgow mate. That needle was always there, not Milly induced.

Also Robbo does do his bit in charging the players up on the field , He ensures that the standards don’t slip and being vocal when he sees standard slipping.

Alli / Mo / VVD / Trent do come across as slightly amiable. Need someone like Robbo around to keep everyone on their toes.
