Well as half the forum keeps pointing out, the guy who used to play right back for us now plays in midfield instead.
And given weāve not thought to buy a new right back or even pick another one in the line up then there is always going to be a bit of a hole down that side of the pitch for the opposition to exploit.

I think weāll get Lavia. If we get one more DM , weāll ship Tyler Morton out on loan. Otherwise, heāll be in reckoning for some playing time.
Mortonās natural game might have made him a decent short term option to fill in while Baj/Thiago were still getting up to speed and the new signing is finalized. But annoyingly he missed the SG trip with injury so is likely too far behind in preparation to be even a short term option Iād think. And then obviously his prospects get lessened as the season progresses and those other players are more bedded in. So loan seems right.

5 clubs have signed the same number as us or fewer, so this is incorrect. We are also pursuing another signing and that would put us on three, which is what almost all clubs have signed so far.
Finally both of our signings clearly have revamped the midfield. Last season we opened the league campaign with Thiago-Fabinho-Henderson whereas this season it will probably be Jones-Mac Allister-Szoboszlai. You can argue about the relative quality of each midfield and thats fine but its very difficult to make the case that it hasnāt been overhauled.

For those who question weather or not Jones is an upgrade, we still have Thiago.If you start with Mac Allister-Szoboszlai-Thiago it is still a huge upgrade on the starting trio from last season.There is a lot more energy in that midfield which was badly missed last year.

Agreed but we still need another midfielder. Weāve lost 5 already - before even considering Thiago - bringing in 3 really isnāt excessive!
People shouldnāt be rating the Bayern result. Trent was pretty much given a free rideā¦ with him slotting into the #8 role as well.
Kloppās trying out different things. We should be fine even if Jones starts in CDM in the first PL match.

Losing 3 and replacing them with 2 isnāt bad business in itself.
Yes , we do need another midfielder in for Fabinho and pretty sure weāll get a transfer done. Fabinho in that Bayern match would have been just as big a liability as he always is , so itās not as if Jones did a particularly bad job.
We were leading 3-2 when Jurgen got the kids in , we didnāt have the best of performances but we still were leading and were looking reasonably okay till we rang in the changes. Things happen, conceding two goals at the end , largely due to an uncharacteristic ally mistake and one worldie are things beyond our control.
Even at those changes , the likes of Doak and Clark impressed well enough and could have scored a goal. Not to mention Nunez missing one sitter.
Plenty in the match both to introspect and to look forward for , depends on which you want to look

On paper itās better technically and thereās certainly more in the engine room but who in that 3 is going to handle the defensive duties? We donāt have anybody who will, they along with our fullbacks all wanna be involved in the attacking play and even if one eventually may take that role on, itās going to take some time before it gels. The title winning midfield trio were a title winning trio because all of them did their defensive part when it was neededā¦they allowed for our fullbacks to play so high up and play that integral part of our offensive build up.

Mac and Soboszlai did do their defensive responsibilities. They werenāt lacking in their efforts to track back.
We do need someone in defensive midfield. No one is denying that.
No doubt we need another but while Ox and Kieta have left i see Bajetic and Clark as been more than capable of filling the minutes those 2 player did last season and will be as productive.Jones may/may not have the quality that Thiago currently possesses but he should be available a lot more than the former.Hendo and Fab easily replaced and upgraded by Szob and Mac.Another midfielder is a bonus but we should be bringing 1 in as well as a CB.
