We better change our tactics and lineups then otherwise our midfield will be overrun almost every match.

It seems we lost our way abit after losing some of the players that made us winning everything. It’s like losing ingredients in a formula. We need to get that back and we need to employ someone from Abady because they have got the weaning formula.

You mean we are going a similar path that Arsenal took?

Been reading just not posting much, things are good. Would be better if we start playing better

How do you mean?

What LFC needs right now… Is another player/signing EXACTLY like that of Graeme Souness
Someone that comes in and immediately grabs the whole team by the scruff of the neck and starts shaking some performances out of them… A guy capable of strutting about the pitch and dominating in equal measure… A guy with ‘We are Liverpool’ written across his chest for all to see
Where we find someone like this… I’ve not got a clue :0)

Probably be sent off within 10 minutes.

This has got to be one of the most triggering posts for me…

Firstly, the idea the one player is going to be that magical saviour. Which does not happen. Even the most often cited example in Virgil was not as big a change as people assume, because our defensive performances were already improving prior to him coming in. It was his consistency that made the huge difference.

Secondly, this one player is always a new signing. I remember people saying that Thiago would be this precise player who did that, but we’ve got him now and yet we still need that mythical player?

Thirdly, transfers solve everything. Our issues right now are systemic, and just one player will not change anything drastic. Even if your mythical player were to join, he’d probably just be dragged down to the level we’re playing at currently. What we need is to resolve all this on the training ground, and rebuild our mental resilience.

A mess??? The club hasn’t been in a better state since more than thirty years. Our current blip doesn’t change anything to it.

Yep, we’re in a messy situation. Been that way since FSG publicly addressed the fans of their intentions for the club in November…whole host of staff who have left or announced they will do so in the summer…whole bunch of players who will leave for nothing in the summer. Out the EFL cup, in danger of going out the FA cup (very fortunate to still be in it), a CL tie against Madrid who’ve had our number every time we’ve faced them.

Let’s see come the end of the season where this “blip” takes us…only hope of turning a very disappointing half season into an acceptable 1 come June solely rests on Klopps shoulders.

Going out in the 4th round of the EFL cup had been common up until last year.

The last 5 months is a mess but going out of the EFL cup is not a crisis. All it would have led to is people moaning that our fixture list was congested.

Take all things into consideration.

  • league positioning
  • performances across the board
  • 5 players leaving for free
  • injury crisis continuing
  • lack of activity in the market continuing
  • staff mass exodus
  • fans still left unknown where the future of the club lies

Nobody cared about going out early in the cups before this year because we were sitting pretty at the top of the table.

You want to see massive problems where there are normal and reversible ones. I’ll say it again, experiencing a blip this season after the last one is only normal, and could have been expected to be fair. It’s disappointing to see it unfold like that, but nothing which can’t be fixed.

Some points in your list aren’t correct btw, or at least vastly exaggerated.

Good post.

For me, it’s both/and. We need everything you say - system improvements, on and off the pitch, training, and better mental fortitude.

In addition, we do need a midfield signing asap, and preferably another in the summer. I won’t complain if we sign Caicedo and Bellingham in January though!

But I am wary of silver bullet solutions and agree that one player is not going to fix everything.

Still, an athletic midfield signing will be an important part of the overall solution, and hopefully we will see a new face sooner rather than later.

Fair enough Wesley pal, if you ever fancy coming out of retirement…

Classic story when Liverpool want a finished product player from another top club.

:joy:

Although we had a good window that January. Rodgers’ idea to play Sahin at #10 was finished and we brought in Coutinho and Sturridge.
