The Corona Pandemic

The one good thing this little shit country has done. More doses of the vaccine administered than the whole of the EU. Doesn’t compensate for Boris being thicker than a whale omelette but at least we can get some things right.

That gives me an idea; can I pay for the Prime Minister to have an all expenses paid snorkelling holiday in Japanese fishing waters?

It’d be money well spent.

Good old Boris doing the right thing again.
Are we still in early 2020?

My opinions on here are often considered extreme. Anybody against this one being banned from having kids?

He doesn’t seem that bad to be honest.

She on the other hand is an absolute loon who is making good money from posting inflammatory shit.
I think she has already bred sadly.

Sci Man Dan is a bit of a pleb in my opinion and I often find his explanations countering the loons he challenges a little too short for my liking. I’m also concerned that he seems to show some level of support for Boris. yes he’s been given an awful hand but not doing anything about it is inexcusable.

Katie Hopkins should simply be in jail. She’s been banned from Facebook and Twitter I believe and I’m surprised that Youtube are still a little behind the ball on this. She is poisonous and really dangerous.

Presumably if it were 1941 Katie would believe its ok to express public support for Hitler, broadcast claims that there isn’t a war on, and think we should all go round doing what ever we like.

A far more sensible view (in my opinion, at least) here:

I don’t think that’s far removed from her current line of thinking.

To be honest it’s all show and attention with her. She’s twigged that being controversial gets her money and some love. The sad thing is she’s been given a platform.

Ha, and who says we don’t have an impact on the global stage huh?

Jokes aside, it’s fucking scary shit. 5000 active cases in my municipal district now with the likelihood of it being far more.

What is the population for the district?

Infuriated with our federal government, which spent months decrying travel bans and testing on arrival as xenophobic and racist, until they decided to start doing it this week. It is not xenophobic, it is the same logic of a lockdown applied at a national level. Stop moving around and let whatever is out there burn out. Containing that South Africa variant may now be the real global priority.

I wish Boris would listen.

Anyway, is there any more on the potential resistance to the current vaccines?

Ah, boycotting South Africa. That takes me back! Regardless of whatever restrictions we put in place pretty sure they won’t stop Graham Gooch.

News now dropping that the PL has had 40 positive results this week :man_facepalming:

Not a massive surprise, given the complete contempt for restrictions shown by some players has appeared to have no consequences whatsoever for club or player.

I was initially pleased to see the return to play, needing the distraction, but it is crossing over to the ghoulish.

± 700 000 according to the district web page.

So just under 1% of the population is an active case.

Here, we have a private citizen who has been doing daily calculations of various indicators. The one that is most effective to me is the number of people you need to encounter in order to have a 50% probability of coming in contact with covid. We are now at our lowest ever, 110. With that 1% incidence, the number would be around 40.

Yeah, we are staring down the barrel here. Cases and fatalities are no longer stats but names we know. I am personally in a very curious situation; I actually had a brilliant 2020 career wise and my family is growing so financially things should not be any rosier. My creditworthiness is at an all time high and the family needs a new vehicle with the new addition coming as we also need a bigger home. I also have quite a few concluded sales that are on the way to registration (I’m an Estate Agent) so as well as a great record, a decent bank balance and a reasonable future income stream this should actually be the time of my life except… Covid.

In a very bizarre way my situation is very similar to the Club. I need certain things and I am able to get finance for it and I will be able to service the debt but if we get locked down and registration services are suspended then I have no income stream and the debt becomes unsustainable with my guaranteed future income also suspended. If I don’t take the finance options available and we get locked down then I don’t have debt but then my creditworthiness hits a wall because I won’t be getting an income and getting the things a growing family needs becomes rather much more difficult.

So, well. Fuck.

Nothing like spreading the story about empty shelves to get the panic buyers biting.
I went shopping this morning, didn’t see any shelves that had been stripped but did see a few gaps(nothing unusual)
Always good to see the media being responsible when we have a “mutant virus rampaging” through the country.

Good thing we are ahead of the curve on this one.

1 sheet was not plenty in March / April last year.

60916 cases in the UK! Per capita daily tested positive, I think that is the worst ever anywhere in the world. Two percent of the population estimated to have active cases.
