The Corona Pandemic

Yeah, Ursula was pissed. It’s not even necessarily the sheer number or the EU distribution that would have to be the problem imo, it’s more production speed/capacities that is the main issue for me. They’re getting a new production line going here at another factory here in Germany, apparently is supposed to start in February I think.

There is possibly 20+ supermarkets within a 5km radius of where I am. A bit too many if you ask me.

Nothing like a global pandemic and Brexit to thin those out a little!

Covid hits anyone over 5’ 11’’ so we are fecked. Short Cbs or stay with what we have.

There’s so many that there is rarely a queue for them and so far brexit hasn’t caused shortages on the shelves, although up the North they seem to be having some issues with stock.

At last

Now people can complain when they are stopped from shopping.

I’ve just checked to guidance and there is nothing that prohibits a thermos.

A thermos is definitely a pre arranged picnic - you could have soup and croutons in it - a meal!

Yet again, I find myself bemused that this isn’t already the case.

@Iftikhar Singapore is doing pretty well. Vaccinations have started with our PM already taking it in public view. We have been having zero or very low community cases now for some time while still seeing double digit imported cases every day. In a way we have no choice because we depend alot on imported labour so the only way is to enforce a strict quarantine and testing regime on them and catch them before they are released into the community. Basic restrictions are still there, mask on everywhere except when dining in and social distancing enforced. Government is very upfront to the people that as they try to open up the economy step by step and even with vaccinations, numbers might still go up and the game is now to ensure we do not allow the numbers to spiral out of control or having too many unlinked clusters going on. So random testing, contact tracing through governmental Apps and technology and enforcement officers are always on ground to ensure rules are followed.

For Malaysia, indeed they are seeing a spiraling out of control numbers for a while now. The King has declared emergency while Movement Control Orders have been imposed again. If I am not wrong they took 6 months to reach 10,000 cases from Feb to Sep but now already pushing 140K cases with daily cases not looking to ease. Hopefully their latest measures will ease as their health system is close to maximum load.

Yeah strange. We have this since months, for all shops all over the country.

The thing I don’t get is ‘apart from those that are medically exempt’

That should not be a thing and if you can’t wear a mask for medical reasons you should not be going out at all. That should be one of the most enforced catagories for self isolating in my opinion I’m getting fed up with the number of pricks getting on buses/tubes/trains in London with some poxy sign saying they can’t wear a mask the coughing their guts up on public transport.

Our experience in Singapore is that those who claimed they are medical exempt from wearing masks usually are self-declared and end up getting fined.

I thought it already was! Baffling if they’re saying it’s something that they need to introduce…ffs

At the start the supermarkets line was wear a mask but if you don’t we won’t enforce it as we don’t want our staff to face abuse(fair enough).

I always wear a mask personally(other people seem happier when I do) and carry spares in the car just in case I lose one.
I also use the wipes to clean the trolley and only touch what I want to buy.
Am I paranoid or just conscientious

The latter.

Last time I was in our Morrisons I spotted at least half a dozen people not wearing masks… some of which were staff.

Almost 91,000 excess deaths last year, or 15% above the 5 year average. Add on top of that, flu was well down last year (some reports saying over 90% reduction) and that paints a truly horrible picture of the true numbers of COVID in 2020.

Already arguing this morning with some idiot that thinks it’s a hoax. Something along the lines of Flu A and Flu B. WTF.

The level of ignorance is honestly staggering. I’m honestly starting to get angered by it. Any sympathy has been washed away.
