Great to see the UK new cases and daily deaths falling so steadily. Pretty much the same as Spains figures now which means some of my family should be able to get here in June and I have just booked for a couple of weeks in the UK in August. Happy days
Pretty much covers all this government’s failures in a 4 minute skit. I wish I could put things as concisely.
Yeh, he’s very good. He doesn’t need to misreport stuff though, the reality is already pretty damning.
I wonder how much that scaffold is costing us per week, along with the delays as a result of Covid?
I wonder if breaking quarantine is strictly a British thing?
haha! If anything, the answer is no. We have our own Singaporeans breaking quarantine or Stay Home Notice too for reasons like going out to buy Bah Kut Teh (a very popular local dish, loosely translated Herbal Pork Bone Soup)
But we do have quite a number of Britons amongst other foreigners being charged over breaking restrictions for Covid-19 in Singapore.
I’m not surprised to be honest but it was a small test on whether it was the UK media reporting on UK rule breakers.
I guess they’re everywhere. I’ve come across more than a few around here over the last 12 months.
This particular case has a romantic spin to it of course, they are now married. But breaking quarantine is illegal and rightly so, strong punishment meted out.
I think that’s two days in a row now where we’ve been over 500,000 again for the UK. Good pace.
Unfortunately think the damage has already been done in Europe with regard to the AZ vaccine. Have a large amount of the population that don’t want it now.
Any news on the J&J vaccine being approved in the UK? From what I could find, they haven’t submitted the data yet to the MHRA so look like it will be a while yet
Data with the MHRA. Should be approved next week, is my guess.
Sounds promising. Things starting to look a lot more positive.
No country started administering COVID vaccinations before data was available from phase III trials. How is that any different to the German government’s choice to wait for vaccination data from 65+ to filter through? If that is a reason for the German public to reject the vaccinations then there is no helping them.
Well, maybe not to the public. Pretty sure Russia started administering Sputnik at least to the military before it had completed clinical trials.
Anti lockdown protests in Dublin today
Don’t forget the political grandstanding that occurred.
World leaders can’t simply come out with statements that the AZ vaccine is ‘quasi-ineffective’ and later hope the population will take it. Or have health ministers make false statements with missunderstood numbers (mixing up % of people over 65 and efficacy)
The political point scoring denouncing the AZ vaccine or the “risks” the UK was taking was foolish. Especially as it was in contrast to the views of the European regulator.
The EU concurrently rubbished the AZ vaccine and also demanded more. Today AZ vaccines is left unwanted/unused by many of its population. Just 10% of what has been delivered has been used. It makes a total mockery of the EU demanding AZ divert UK supplies. Millions of doses in the EU are simply unused.
It’s no coincidence that France and Germany have high levels of vaccine scepticism. For that it’s political leaders must be blamed.
I remember hearing the most ridiculous comment from an anti-lockdown guy a while ago.
It’s over the top for a disease that only kills 1% of people.
I pointed out that this is still 660,000 people in the UK. He genuinely didn’t seem to have considered that.
