Yeah, I know. It was always inevitably going to be terrible. But that’s probably preferable to, what? Maybe 20m global deaths?
More, I’d say. I think the estimate was that left unchecked covid would have caused upwards of 500,000 deaths in the UK. That’s nearly 1% of the population. If you equate that to the world you’re looking at nearly 70 million deaths.

We need these medical professionals to have stronger voices.
It really annoys me that on another forum that I visit, some active posters frequently played down the voices and concerns from the medical communities. In fact, one even posted, several times, that nurses and doctors are like Uber drivers and faced the same stress and threat. WTF! Uber drivers do not face sickness and death non-stop with the current pandemic. They do not have to make decisions on whether to give the last ICU bed and weigh who lives and who dies. Some people out there have lost all sense of morality, and using personal choices and freedom as argument.
I read somewhere that doctors have said they feel confident they can effectively treat patients who do suffer from these issues if they are noticed early enough. Will this be enough to get AZ and J&J back on track?

Woh 111.365 jabs yesterday, somehow they have found the light switch.
From last Saturday they gave 1.181.675 jabs, what took you so long so many lives could have saved if you started in December like the UK have …
UK COVID-19 (UKCovid19Stats)
Fears frontline NHS staff are refusing to get Covid vaccine
Concerns grow after sharp drop in numbers coming forward, with almost 15% of staff still unprotected
This is a very good representation

Look at the British one (B1.1.7). As Gavin Williamson would say, we’ve got the best variants.
Something curious is that we test more per capita than any other country with a population greater than 10 million. We rank 12th in a list of countries with a population of greater than 10 million for cases per capita. But we rank 4th in that group for deaths per capita.
So what’s going on? Are we over counting deaths, are others under counting deaths, are we worse at treating people with covid, are our cases disproportionately hitting the most vulnerable compared with other countries, other factors?
And jet hardly any recognizing form the majority on this forum how the UK-government has handled vaccination in the UK. ‘Onle’ criticism just because it is not the ‘preferred’ left-wing government.
In my opinion, the UK did brilliantly, credit where credit is no matter where your political alliance are.
Think the whole of the EU could take after the UK.
With new infections at record levels in India and the ‘Double India variant’, does anybody know the reason why India is not on the government’s ‘red list’ of countries? Surely anybody arriving from India into the UK should be made to quarantine. I’ve not heard one journalist ask this question yet.
Rumours are it’s related to Johnson wanting to visit India to discuss trade before the EU does… Hope that’s not the case.
Posted before that travel to india should have been banned.
And this was as an indian citizen
And am okay btw with respect to me being diagnosed covid positive… Absolutely no symptoms so far…
Not that im not pissed off against the indiam govt and the indian populace… But by and large , we lot deserve what we get
I get what you mean.
Take care of yourself, my friend. Get well soon. You will be in my prayers.
When it takes for a govt to approve a kumbh mela…
People will be idiots regardless… But the govt enabling idiots to do what they want in the name of whatever…
I hope that’s not the case also. There are alternative ways to have trade discussions, the virus is more important.
He can quarantine both ways and go on “business” and them still be on the red list I think?
Or zoom like the rest of us…
