Well, wish it was this strict here in India. Plenty wear masks on their chins here, without covering their mouth and nose. Crazy situation. There was this guy in below pic found in our intracity train a while back making some innovative use of the mask
Btw, I got tested positive myself last week with typical symptoms of high temperature and sore throat. Recovered now thankfully.
A disgusting example of police making matters worse instead of better. And then they wonder why a part of people don’t want to put up with this shite anymore…
Everyone expected India to be hit badly. High population, and poverty meant it the impact was forecast to be devastating.
I was surprised when India and many African countries seemly escaped the worst of it (for most of the last year). I figured an association with warmer climate.
Sadly the forecasts are now proving to be true. Does anyone have a sense why this is occurring now ? Is it a relaxing of behaviour/ poor government control or more likely due to it being a new variant, one likely to be devastating if it reaches Africa ?
it’s the relaxing of the behaviour. The incumbent modi govt has seen it fit to organize election rallies , do kumbh melas etc. People are idiots, they are gonna follow the guidelines given… This shit is purely to do with the govt imo…
It has come to the scene of the emperor has no clothes , and that’s what modi has proven himself to be.
Let’s be honest: the opening of the stadiums a few months back was just one in a line of bad decisions made by the government that led to the second wave. Vaccinations don’t eliminate transmission. With vaccines not responding as well to the variants introduced recently into the UK due to the abysmally reactive ‘red list’ quarantining rules, the last thing we want to do is spread these variants around.
We may be easing the restrictions, but we certainly aren’t at a point yet of introducing 10,000 people into a confined space and have them scream and sing their microscopic spittle 15 rows down. Football grounds really are a SARS-CoV-2’s wet dream.
