The thing that was really the fucker about this virus was its novelty. It is closeish to others we encounter, but not close enough that our immune system had any existing defense against it. Even if this doesnt go away, but reappears during cold and flu season, the expected clinical outcome of that is far less than we’ve seen up to this point. Even if mutates significantly there is enough left over memory in the immune system that it responds as if it recognizes the virus.
I’ve been as doommongery about this as anyone I know, and have been talking to people about it as a big fucking deal we aren’t ready for since Jan 2020. But I genuinely believe there is light a the end of the tunnel for many of us.

This is really impressive work. Seriously, no other country in the world comes close to the amount of data that the UK is publishing. We should be really proud of the the various Public Health bodies, NHS, JCVI, Sage etc. They’ve done incredible work.

Quit my job a while ago and will hopefully soon be opening my small club/pub, renovation almost over (did most of it myself and with the help of friends).
