The failure of the Indian company and the govt to supply Astra Zeneca to you guys in time has what led other countries to take Sinovac. The efficacy i think was shown to be 50% or thereabouts. Just look at the rising cases in Chile and UAE.
Sputnik is a good vaccine candidate and if you have a chance to go for that , Please do.
The vaccine production in India has been ramped up but i suspect it will take until september till the vaccines get dispatched again. Atleast until when there’s some sanity in the Indian vaccination process.
I think we have 15 mil Sinovac and 10 mil Sputnik in the pipelines. Sinovac has already arrived early this month. I always treat the Russians as dodgy when it comes to delivering as promised.
Does anyone have any experience of navigating this issue?
I’ve got my second AN jab on 19th July, 12 weeks from my first. The advice we’re hearing is to bring your send jab forward as this is more effective against the Delta variant.
So, I’ve tried to do this on NHS website. You can check availability at your centre before booking, and in my case it says there isn’t any availability. But what I can’t do is see if there is availability at a different centre.
The only option I have is to cancel my booking and then rebook, hoping to get an earlier date. But I don’t know if I’ll get an earlier date. And so could end up with a later one. It all feels like quite a risk.
Tried phoning, but the woman was just looking at the same website I was looking at. All she could say was that it was up to me whether I wanted to take that risk.
As someone whose country has gotten fucked over by the delta variant , All i can say is wear your masks and keep practicing social distancing. I see crowds , maskless in the stadiums and can’t help but feel that it is going to be a disaster waiting to unfold.
Assuming that the lockdown is lifted, still keep interactions to a minimum till 10 days affter the second shot.
It is way more dangerous a proposition that the Euros or Copas. It’s not just the massively greater number of athletes, but the socialization of the Olympic village is one of the primary aspects of participating and I dont see how you do an olympics with so many athletes and prevent that sort of mingling.
This is tantamount to admitting that the vaccine has failed.
Israel which has the second-highest vaccination rate in the world with shots from Pfizer after Seychelles, reports 4.95 new Covid-19 cases per million. On the other hand, Seychelles, which relied mostly on Sinopharm, that number is more than 716 cases per million.
I’m sorry mate, I tried doing exactly this earlier today and had the same issue (no available earlier appointments at my scheduled 2nd jab centre). Wasn’t prepared to risk losing my slot to check availability elsewhere (2nd one due on 23rd July).
The woman I spoke to on the phone said most of her calls at the minute we’re people trying to work this out
I know people elsewhere in the country who have been contacted proactively to pull their second jab forward. I think it’s a bit of a lottery what NHS trust you’re under.
Any I’ve reached the same conclusion as you. I’m not going to risk losing my second jab trying to get an earlier one. Bloody frustrating though.
I got my 2 Phizer jab yesterday. Apart from the severe pain in my arm, I now only have a bit of a “buzzing head” and I feel a little tired. But I’m very relieved that it’s done now.
