The new hospital is apparently partially open precisely to allow for the admission of COVID patients
Did it open at 10:39?
No, four months ago apparently
That might be one of the very few sensible moves this year.
Easy to police it. Setup a checkpoint tomorrow, stop every fifth car and ask for proof of address. News will soon get round social media.
Well, China for a start. Asymptomatic outbreak in Qingdao, lets test everyone! In a week! Population: 9 million.
I’ve heard that the North Korean supreme leader once got 18 holes in one in a game of golf.
Wrong.
UK 417,289 tests per million
China 111,163 tests per million
I have always maintained that for this pandemic, testing is one thing. Because even if you don’t test, based on the super infectious nature of this virus, there it is somewhere lurking in someone or somewhere. So for me, the key thing is management of positive cases. The end game is to get zero cases but in the process it is to identify positive cases quickly and ensure they recover and keep the mortality low. What is concerning I think in alot of countries is not just the high numbers discovered, is that the high numbers seem to overwhelm the system and as a result, more people die probably die due to lack of adequate care being given, on time.
I have some people pointing out that why some countries are doing so well. I would point out how much active testing they are doing even when they discover low cases? Not much I believe, because why would they? It puts a stress on the system unnecessarily if no one is falling sick. And that is part of the curve they are managing.
And while I applaud those countries who are testing aggressively and in quantity, the questions then is what are the measures being take to ensure mortality is reduced? If you want to test, then you better make sure you have the capacity to heal everyone even if the positive rate is 100%.
Its a hard time to be government, but I can also understand why some people are disillusioned with them.
A lot of people in the Conservative Government are having an absolutely wonderful time.
Fixed it for you
Not really.
I wouldn’t like to try stopping every 5th car on the M4. Easier before the tolls were removed admittedly but not now. Similar issues on the A55, M40 etc.

Does Wales really have a large problem of people wanting to go there?
Apparently so. Not even a shop up there, but there they are.
More visiting than leaving. That says a lot!

They’re clearly lost - probably confused by the signs written all funny.
The Welsh language is amazing for just how distinct it is. It’s been bugging me, given how distinctive the written language is, why aren’t Welsh names (people not places) similarly distinctive? It’s David, Adam, Owen, Allan, William, Jonathan, Evan, Hugh, with surnames like Davies, Owen, Williams, Jones, Evans, Hughes, Edwards etc. You’ll get the occasional Rhys, Llewellyn, Gruffud, Angharad, Dafydd etc but nothing really out there that you might expect from a language that often struggles to buy a vowel.
Myfanwy is a cracker of a name.
I still think back to youth hosteling Wales when the room I stayed in was called Fan y Big. A warm welcome assured.
