Me and friends have a christmas tradition of the last friday before christmas going and getting really drunk at lunch and using that dutch courage to finish (start?) our christmas shopping. At lunch we set the over/under on mask compliance in the mall at 30%…based on my observations I’d say was less than half that. It was shocking. I just dont get what universe these people are living in.
Probably the same one as Piers Corbyn and his followers.
Vaccine Hunter Canada is returning on Discord. For the fellow Canucks, family members and friends looking for vaccinations, a good idea to join the Discord group, follow the instructions in the Information and Rules, which also provides directions to select your regions.
Shopping Malls. Ought to be the perfect superspreader mechanism. Here in Cali maybe 60% - 75% in masks, including chin diapers, at our local mall. Hard to tell because everyone is moving about, and that’s the thing. Recipe. Move humans endlessly through packed corridors so they waft through each others’ exhalations over several hours. Yuck. Wanted to get out of there, but needed my stuff, man. Glad I’m vaccinated. Oddly no discernible uptick in California cases over this shopping season. Not much in Florida either. Definitely seems concentrated in cold weather states thus far this winter, unlike last, when it was everywhere.
more panic of variant = more testing = more positive tests. I be willing to bet that some folks pass of the symptoms as a cold until they get freaked out about having to visit grandma over Christmas.
you have my sincerest sympathies. I don’t understand why some odd folks are so viciously against getting a simple shot in the arm. tin hat theorists…
The problem with that theory is that positivity is growing faster than cases. We have hit an effective cap on testing capacity in much of Ontario - Kingston has basically flatlined, but there is no way that reflects reality.
What’s going on with the booster program in the US?
I heard on the radio that the NY mayor was even offering $100 for people to get their shot?!
Just had my booster Pfizer yesterday. Again thank God I only felt sore arm as with my first 2 jabs. But omicron screwing reopening efforts again. Hurhur
I had moderna for my first two and then pfizer for my booster on Sunday. Apart from a slightly sore arm I was fine for the first 24 hours. Then my lymph nodes under my left armpit (the side I had my jab in) swelled up to quite epic proportions. Pretty uncomfortable and obviously gross enough for my wife and daughter to go “Ewww” when I showed them last night. It’s gone down a bit now but it was probably about the size of a squidgy tennis ball.
Seems like it’s a fairly common reaction though and I’m glad it’s now going down!
I had similar, after my second in particular the swelling was cartoonish, grapefruit-sized and so sore that I could not really use that arm for two days. The flu-type symptoms cleared overnight.
I had Pfizer the first two jabs and Moderna as booster with no effects, my wife said she had a strange taste in her mouth after all 3.
I think she’s taking it wrong. Do let her know, won’t you?
Lots of confusion over who qualifies and who needs them as a result of some mixed messages coming from sections of the FDA relative to the White House, but then also lots of willful amplification of the confusion from those who have committed themselves to talking down the need for them.
I also know a lot of people who have no question about the value of the vaccine or need for the booster, but who are putting it off seemingly waiting for the picture to clarify on questions around the edges (what is the best combination? time interval? how does it work against Omicron?) rather than just getting it now.
I’m really curious to know why Astrazeneca isn’t being offered as an option anymore…
Higher risk overall than the mRNA, and no shortage of those. What has gone unadmitted in Canada is that we don’t want to be out of step with the US, for a whole host of reasons, not least of which is AZ became an easy target for anti-vaxxers.
Perversely, we are increasing our purchases of J&J in order to provide a non-mRNA alternative, while releasing contracted AZ to other countries.
