Get well soon, mate.
Ta. Seems to be my modus operandi. Go on holiday, come back sick.
Bugs me a bit as it’s 5 days now. Normal cold cycle for me is about 3 days, lots of snot but no coughing. This one is different.
Boss is convinced it’s the big C but tests keep saying no.
Hong Kong has been wrecked by the supposedly mild omicron, and I think that shows probably 3 things
- the value of vaccination as HK, and China as a whole, is oddly low in terms of vaccination rates for the elderly
- relative weakness of Sinovac, the predominate (only?) version used in China
- Lack of exposure to the actual virus helping to bolster levels of acquired immunity into what is referred to as an immunity wall.
What’s with this deltacron variant now? Any news on it?
UK cases on the climb again. Work impacted by it. The end feels near but my mind says we are nowhere near.
I feels like it’s on the rise again, but I think we’re very unlikely to see any rollback on restrictions in the UK. The narrative is that it’s over. We’ve won. It’s all done. Boris has declared it so.
Just feel for all those people with co-morbidities that will need to isolate in perpetuity. They’ve been forgotten about already.
It absolutely is. Every key leading indicator is starting to go back up again right at the time that collectively we’ve never given less of a shit. With all the data Ive seen, Im confident that Im ok (thrice jabbed plus one confirmed pre-vax infection), but Ive always approached this from a public health perspective where your own personal risk in not the point. I cannot continue to care more about my community that it cares for itself though.
I’m really conflicted.
I’ve had to use public toilets twice over the last two days. Both times filthy scumbags had a p155 and walked out without washing their hands. Fecking appalling. It’s like folk have just given up.
I still wear a mask in shops, supermarkets and on the trains. Most people don’t seem to care now though. As you said, some don’t even wash their hands after having a piss. People are disgusting.
Here in Adelaide ppl are still wearing masks but you can see the masks slipping, so to speak. Increasingly ppl are only paying lip service to the rules with uncovered noses, wearing around the chin etc. Apparently indoor mask mandates likely to be dropped soon (against backdrop of rising cases - up to 3000 per day) and sadly I think many ppl just won’t protect themselves.
Covid must be over in Dublin
My daughter has ‘long’ covid. for weeks she’s tested positive starting to get worried as shes miles away and I can not fill her with hot tea and lemon with a dose of honey.
Worrying as it has brought on her asthma attacks.
Will go home and start looking this shit up.
Best of luck Flobs. My cold has cleared but we’re starting to get cases appearing at work again. I got lucky I think, while away.i found myself in far too many situations where transmission would have been pretty much guaranteed.
Meanwhile in everyone’s mind it’s over.
I work in 2 hotels am diabetic and everyone around me has had this shit but I have never felt ill so never tested. I don’t think I have had covid yet if I did it was assymptomatic.
I was vaccinated early on but my booster was cancelled (so haven’t had that) I wonder if the main thing that has protected me is my excessive smoking?
It really is the luck of the draw. I am worried for my daughter, I have no idea what scars this long covid might leave however that it’s causing severe asthma attacks is what’s worst at the moment. She needs to come back to France to get proper medication for that imo. (Of course being young she hasn’nt kept her guard up like she should at all times), restrictions here have been completely relaxed however I still wear a mask as much as possible when in communal areas, shopping and work (have to take the mask off my nose at work when I put my glasses on or I can not see anything ).
I think the “it’s endemic” crew have finally won. Restrictions are not only being lifted everywhere, but government programs for dealing with it are being slashed, all while daily deaths are still high and the signs are showing we’re on the precipice of a new wave. It seems clear we’re just going to run headlong into this one with zero mitigation other than the wall of immunity we’ve already collectively built up and hope that is enough.
Two years later and I’ve finally got round to having my go on Covid.
Sorry bud, hope it passes unnoticed. How are you feeling?
Me too. I only tested because somebody I was with on Friday told me yesterday that they were positive. I didn’t have symptoms but now feel like I have the start of a sore throat. Hope you’re not too bad with it @ILLOK
