Huh? What happened? Are they trying to bill you by saying the Tx wasnt indicated due to lack of testing to verify you had the right strain?
Na. The kit turned up today and is probably now useless. It’s only 3-4 weeks late.
No charge but they will be paid for sending out a test no doubt.
Fucking useless gits
Flying to Aruba on Monday for a few days with wife, early 25th anniversary present. I will wear an N95 to fly. Haven’t worn a mask in a while, but relaxed breathing in an N95 isn’t too bad for me.
We have to take a test to fly back, demonstrating no covid one day before return travel.
If it should happen that I get it, hopefully symptoms will be mild and I will have to hole up longer in Aruba!
Well bollocks! Be careful what you joke about.
Due to fly back today, Aruba-Miami-Indianapolis. Did antigen test yesterday, said I had covid. Did a PCR test this morning and it confirmed it too. So I am quarantining here for 5 days and have rescheduled flights for Tuesday, assuming asymptomatic by then, and a Doc gives me the fit2fly letter needed.
Symptoms are mild - sore throat, cough, runny nose.
The health department moved me to a little apartment in the hood, where I am supposed to lay low for a few days. At least it has a patio and Wi-Fi, so I can get some sun and do some work.
My wife went to the airport and is flying home today, and rightly so. Her test was fine, she has no symptoms, and our daughter just graduated from high school yesterday so she is going back to be with the kids.
It’s a little speed bump in the road, but we can handle it.
I was starving and there’s a little Colombian restaurant next door so I got some rice, plantains, and asada to go. Just a few dollars and it is lovely. Showed a Luis Diaz pic to the fella sitting at the bar and his face lit up. Neither of us spoke the other language.
That sucks! How much more is that putting you out?
Population level stats are difficult to interpret these days, but based on the number of stories I’m hearing it certainly feels like we’re right back in a case peak. Thankfully that doesnt mean the same thing it did 12 months ago, but I wouldnt wish on anyone how shit I felt when I was down with it the other week.
Here in NZ covid numbers have increased rapidly. Up until February we had 20k cases over the entire pandemic.
Today we are over a million (probably higher as people not reporting and using RATs tests). I know at my work about half the people I work with have had it (but we all self test twice a week)
Luckily the vaccine has done its job. Just 900 people have died while having Covid-19. The hospitals are not overloaded.
Sorry what?
That overall death figure is impressive all be it still a morbid topic. The UK did nearly double that last month alone.
I’ll need to check but we may have even topped that in one day during the peaks.
But apparently we got the big decisions right.
Yeah, I wasn’t as strict as I might have been. Got food to go. Masked up. With landlord. All delivery from here on out.
Note:
The data hasn’t undergone scientific review, and these initial measurements were taken a month after booster shots.
A good summary, but grim reading. The ‘just another cold’ idea is proving to be a false hope.
Almost a month old press release. Appears to be effective against Omicron variant, but no mention of BA.4 or BA.5 sub variants.
