Şahin, who was interviewed by the Guardian last week, told BBC One’s Andrew Marr show on Sunday: “As a scientist and from extrapolation of what we have seen so far from other viruses, I would expect a high efficacy in preventing disease translates into at least some efficacy in preventing infection.
“I’m very confident that transmission between people will be reduced by such a highly effective vaccine – maybe not 90% but maybe 50%. But we should not forget that even that would result in a dramatic reduction of the pandemic spread.”
For those who are interested, the FDA’s Vaccine Advisory Committee is holding a public meeting of its review of the Pfizer application on friday that is viewable from this link
They were supposedly getting the subjects to send in regular swabs to test for asymptomatic infection. I do wonder if these were included in the 62%, 70%, 90% figures, but I’d imagine they would be shouting that from the rooftops if it was the case.
It will surprise few people that there is amazing overlap between the people who have a history of vaccine allergies and those who have medical conditions the excuses them from wearing a mask.
@Barnestormer
At what point do we start praying for Margaret Keenan, William Shakespeare and all the other guinea pigs vulnerable individuals to receive the Pfizer vaccine early?
Strange times, whatwith that EU thingy about to land, could be butter and vaccine queues for NY - me tho Im opening a 36 hr funeral parlour. It will be virtual of course…we’ll use the basic Minecraft engine, and it will be possible to bury people not dead yet. New Year sale…
It looks like the pre-series to a dystopian nightmare
Guy is a complete loon, with what appears to be deliberate misrepresentation of his status and accomplishments in medicine. He has never been a Chair of the Royal College (he chaired a committee, 15 years ago), he is not the President of the ASLP, which ceased to exist in 1995. To be fair, in his comments he is clear on both those points. His practice over the last 15 years has largely consisted of being a witness for insurance legal cases.
Perhaps not coincidentally, the rate of contagion in Edmonton compares with just about anywhere in the US, and Alberta army reservists are being trained this week for deployment to long-term care homes, with a focus on palliative care and dignified handling of human remains. I guess the Vitamin D he recommended isn’t working.
Here’s the ingredients of the pfizer vaccine. A significant number, for me, in testing showed allergic reactions. 0.63% vaccine 0.51% placebo and no persons with known severe allergic reactions were in the test groups. (Lokks like a massive overlook surely these reactions could have been anticipated hence avoided hence the adverse publicity avoided).
Anyway my guess is the substance with nomenclature ending with amide isthe major culprit in this (2nd in the list) the 1st is a lipid (oil) so probably not the cause, the rest is pretty standard.
I still can not get over this overlooked problem having been passed by a regumentary body. At least it’s been identified quickly.
I don’t think this vaccine poses a great threat to the wast majority of people and I would take it if offered and would advise my kids to as well (we all suffer allergies but do not react severely so no worries).
Not really a submission - Edmonton City Council meeting, where citizens are allowed to speak. In the current state, that is a call-in or Zoom. He waited his turn like anyone else. It is legitimate, in the sense that he is a licensed pathologist and he is indeed involved in a NC company that distributes one type of test used for covid. Cambridge medical degree.
Something was overlooked on the way as in the 1st day of a vaccine campaign shit happened. It didn’t and doesn’t look good. This is now being ‘investigated’ by the regulatory body that passed it.
So you feel this looks good do you?
Btw I comfortable with it. Did you read my post. It was informative with a few of my feelings added.
