Pot. Kettle.

So strange with Woakes. He can look totally innocuous for long spells and then suddenly become unplayable.
That last one to Brathwaite was a corker.

A Bashir 5fer would be nice to see, bowling well.

Wasn’t that impressed with Bashir during the England tour of India despite him getting amongst the wickets

But he’s bowling well here.

Sir Geoffrey Boycott just been rushed into hospital - can’t eat or drink, so it is not looking great for him at the moment

Hope he gets well soon.

Bashir bowling well. It’s nice to see an England bowler who actually turns the ball after all those years of Leach.

I don’t want to speculate on whether he got pneumonia during his hospital stay

Don’t then.

Jeez, that doesn’t sound good needing to be readmitted so quickly

West Indies collapse so dramatic that even Gus Atkinson’s over readout is surprised.

Happy for England. Batting looks good, we may have finally found a spinner and Wood is always fun. Still think we need a really top class seamer or two, but not bad at all.
Was a bit disappointed at the WI collapse. They’d competed up until this morning, but came up short. Test cricket needs a competitive West Indian team and they do have some good prospects coming through, especially bowlers. Hope they can regain a little pride next time.

Why is Woakes opening the bowling, i noticed him doing it Lords too?

Is it because he is experienced, tactical to allow Wood and Atkinson to stay on one end, or has he found an extra yard or two of pace?

He’s the best new ball bowler we have now that Anderson and Broad have retired. He’s the best at getting that out swing to induce slip catches.

Atkinson had MoM performance at lords and mopped up nicely the second test and he will only get better. Jofra will probably be used interchangeably with Wood. Dunno what going on with Robinson. Let’s see how the reserve lad is in the next test, assuming he’ll come in to give Wood a breather.

Robinson seems spent. Just got hit for 40 off an over or something. Massive problems with no-balls, which is inexcusable in a trundler.
Wood and Archer are great, but extremely fragile.
I’d like a Pat Cummins please.

A bit like Potts without the benefit of age.

It’s too easy to get wickets in English condition and that doesn’t promote production of express fast bowlers.
Aussie pacers coming up have to have near genuine pace to be able to take wickets in their native conditions.
That’s always been a problem.

Doubt we’ll see Robinson for England again. Cannot doubt the skill (especially in English conditions) but his lack of fitness and general attitude has let him down greatly. Shame really as his metronomic accuracy when he was playing at his best was something not many other English seamers have been able to provide over the years, could have been our version of a McGrath or Philander type but oh well.

Woakes, Wood, Atkinson, Tounge, Potts, Archer if possible is still a pretty good collection of bowlers. Hopefully Jamie Overton can get himself fit again soon as I’d like to see him given another go as well.
