Yes and Big Bash.

Oh well what coulda been.

Don’t mean the dimensions. Rather the materials used.

The white ball is a problem. And with two new balls , that removes spin and reverse swing from the equation.

He had to captain a less talented bunch and did to the best of his ability. His infield tactics were always on point.

Yes, he is quite a guy…

He did win that ashes though. Has to count for something

And I stand by my words. Clarke was remarkably proactive as a captain. Something that is rarely seen.

And Warne would have made a great captain. But it’s one of the what ifs.

The problem isnt with his ability or captaincy but with him as he always came across as a bit of a twat as a person who didnt care about the game or the team, just himself and hus own personal gains.

Not disputing his actions as a person.

His captaincy and tactics onfield were top notch.

And leaving apart the broken fucking arm jibe. I don’t recall seeing Clarke behave abrasively on the pitch.

And I give him the slight benefit of the doubt there too. Emotions rising etc

And look at Ponting mouthing off when he got hit by a bouncer. The guy was lucky it was only Srinath. Let him try doing that to Ambrose for instance(even if Ambrose wasn’t necessarily as quick as Srinath)

I’d argue there’s a difference between reacting in the heat of the moment when you’re a recognised batsman who’s been hit by a bouncer, and the more calculated threat to a number 11 that’s designed to intimidate.

Also depends on what was said before by Jimmy. Who’s well … Just ask KP

The materials are willow and cane. I’m really not with you.

So, in one sentence Clarke is excused because of “emotions rising”, yet Punter and Anderson are not?

I just think any captain needs to conduct himself better, whatever the provocation.

Except that it’s not really that. The new bats are atrocious with how the balance between the bat and ball are shifted

Punter and Anderson are repeat offenders.

Zak Crawley must be saving himself a fortune.

It is exactly that. I’m sorry but what are you saying? Law 5 and Appendix B specifically deal with the bat i.e. the materiels used and the maximum dimensions. You seem to be misunderstanding the manufacturing process that has progressed while at the same time shortening the lifespan of players grade willow in order to get maximum performance immediately. You also have to take into account that what you see on TV is a fraction of the time a bat is used. Hours upon hours of throwdowns, side arms, net sessions, power hitting drills all so that when Quinton de Kok, for example, gets to the crease in a T20 literally everything about him is geared to maximize performance from ball one.

We think of bats as investments because to us amateur cricketers they are. To a pro cricketer who spends hours on the sport daily they are little more than tools to be used and replaced when broken that are in a never ending supply from their sponsor.
